I Love Weekends

31 Mar

I so so do! How I wish we could have more than 2 days for the weekend.

I finally made use of the spa voucher my hubby got me for Valentine’s Day. We both checked in to Naerunchara Spa in Hartamas on saturday and I got my husband the 2 hour aromatherapy massage so he could keep me company.

While talking to the owner, my husband found out that a few people who stumbled on my blog have actually paid a visit to the spa thanks to my recommendation and countless post of this place :) And suprisingly enough, the owner, Chris does not do any sort of marketing/advertising for his spa. So my blog (in a small way) has helped him increase some clients.

I asked if I could take pictures to put them up on my blog so more people can visit. Good things are meant to be shared afterall.

As you can see, the spa is small yet extremely cosy. And it’s their affordably priced services that keeps us going back for more. For those interested in paying them a visit: do call 03-62032990 (Chris Kim) to set an appointment and yes i’m hoping i’ll get a good discount on my next visit :)

We decided to head down to Bukit Bintang to get a gift for mom in law for her b’day next week. After countless of shops we settled down for a very nice RM400 bag from Isetan Lot 10 (hope she loves it). We headed to Naab Iranian Cuisine along BB for some Persian food. We’ve been craving for middle eastern food alot lately!

Chicken and lamb kebab

Saffron rice with Butter

Iranian Tea, my fav

Hubby smoking up, his apple shisha that is ;)

Watching the people & world go by:

Can you believe the traffic at 11pm?

It’s Arab season again:

The bill came up to about RM85, pricey considering the fact that the food isn’t so great. We still prefer Persia Restaurant @ AmpWalk. Serious awesome Persian food if you ever need to satisfy your Iranian food craving.

SO TOTALLY RANDOM:

Got this baby on friday. Been eyeing this and Annick Goutal’s Petite Cherie for a while now. Annick Goutal has the world’s best perfumes but they’re pricey. I’ll probably splurge on that once I get my bonus, which should be in May :)

My latest addition to my perfume collection – DKNY Be Delicious, I heart it!!

Being Married and Your Health

27 Mar

Besides the many good advantages of being married, we can now add one more benefit of being married. Married folks, rejoice! Apparently we’re in good health.

According to a study in Brigham Young University, here’s one reason why it’s good to be married: we have lower blood pressure compared to unhappy married couples and the singles.

Even having a supportive social network did not translate into a blood pressure benefit for singles or unhappy married people. So much for facebook and friendster then :p

Apparently there are unique health benefits from being married. The study included married and single adults who wore portable blood-pressure monitors for 24 hours. The monitors recorded blood pressure at random intervals and provided a total of about 72 readings.

The results: happily married people scored four points lower on the blood pressure readings than single adults.

Spouses encourage healthy habits in one another, such as eating a healthy diet and having regular doctor visits. People in happy marriages also have a source of emotional support.

It’s good to be married!

Hatyai

24 Mar

Gosh I just realized it’s been almost 10 years since I last went to Hatyai. Hat Yai brought back sweet memories as my family used to frequent there often back when I was a kid.

I’m too lazy to be long winded to write much on the trip so I’ll let the pictures do the talking

6 a.m fog in the morning: YES I was up that early :)

On the way we saw a mini minor car convoy to Hatyai. And I just HAD to force them to take a picture with Homer on Mini, isn’t it super cute?

After 7 hours of travelling and making friends with an old malaysian uncle who indirectly revealed he was a pimp at the immigration checkpoint:

Sawadeepkaaap, welcome to hatyaiiii….

We arrived, in one piece.

I highly recommend New Seasons Hotel which is only 900 Baht (RM90) a night. Hotel is clean, new and def wayyy better compared to Lee Garden Plaza Hotel which is infested by stinky noisy malaysians.

Purpose of visit: To eat and party our hearts out. And to buy my thai iced tea!

And so we ate:

and ate….

and ate…

Value for Money Meal (recommended by the pimp we met): Sky Buffet on the 33rd Floor of Lee Garden Plaza Hotel. Only RM12.90.

A word of caution: You will find 90% of malaysians here. So when there are malaysians + a cheap buffett = fighting your way through to get food and uneducated fools cutting your line is part of the deal.

Must eat at: Tara Seafood for their Tom Yam soup and fried rice, Hear Kui Restaurant for their cheap seafood and there’s this small restaurant/travel agency in front of New Seasons Hotel owned by a butch – the fried rice here is awesome! Probably the best fried rice I’ve tried!

Thais are big on their veges and fruits:

Got Juice?

Some Hawker food along the streets:

And we partied the night away….

Day 1: High Society
Entry fee – RM20 each.

Our RM100 Chivas Bottle. Don’t be fooled by the price of the bottle. They actually charge you for coke mixers @ RM7 for a tiny bottle and even ice too!! But its still cheaper clubbing here compared to KL.

All clubs here somehow come with scantily clad women parading in their lingeries & bikinis.

Isn’t she so pretty?

Day 2: Pink Lady followed by Paragon Club
Entry Fee to Pink Lady: RM30 each & Chivas Bottle: RM100
Entry Fee to Paragon: FREE BUT they charge you RM20 for snacks (and its compulsory)and over-priced mixers for your drinks.

Sheera cooling off on stage with the magician after having a lap dance @ Pink Lady :)

Tattoos are cheap to get in Hatyai.

Before:

After:

Even she couldn’t resist:

But too bad it was a temporary one.

Watch it to see how a fakie is done.

Nevertheless I think he looks so sexy with his fake tattoo!

He’s now considering getting a real one soon :)

If you intend to shop in Hatyai, don’t bother as clothes are of very low quality and aren’t of latest trends.

But if you MUST shop and want to shop cheap do check out Perthai or Pasar every thursdays-sundays and also Prasar Market (smaller version of chatuchak market in Bangkok) . If your budget isn’t so limited then there are malls such as Odeon, Central and Diana mall to shop till your drop.

My other purpose of the trip. So didn’t forget these:

My other buys:

Lingeries and undergarments are cheap cheap ranging from RM10-RM20 for a set.

My scholl shoes from Central. A bargain @ RM49 after a 50% discount

Hubby’s metrosexual side. All from Boots. Their ONLY Boots pharmacy is located in Lee Garden Plaza and it’s isn’t too appealing as compared to the outlets in Bangkok.

Couldn’t resist the shampoos and conditioners:

Jeans are generally cheap here, priced from RM20-RM50. ALWAYS bargain and walk away if you’re not happy with the price. They are most likely to give in to your price but of course, be reasonable.

My RM45 low waisted boot cut jeans. LOVE IT!

Despite not shopping all that much, we were dead broke on day 3.

A post-mortem on how we became broke and the next step for surviving one more night which meant we had to forgo clubbing on the last night in Hatyai :( It sucks to be broke!

Oh and yes we did figure out that the clubbing drained out a huge chunk of our money

Look what I spotted:

My total damage from the trip: RM900 (inclusive of accomodation)

Overall, the trip was alright although I still prefer Bangkok to Hatyai. But Hatyai does offer a real cheap holiday and also a fun ride up to the border.

Hatyai trip done and over.

Gotta start saving up for our Bali trip next!

Hatyai Here We Come

19 Mar

Sawadekaaap, remember how I said I was going to drive up to Hatyai for my bloody thai iced tea fix??

In the next four days, we are off to the land of thai iced tea, roasted piglets, cheap cheap massage, hookers and aqua/freak show (and yes I’m bloody going for it!) -

HATYAI!

We are not so happy with the 6 hour journey by car but with the company of 2 of my brother in laws friends, I’m sure we’ll be there in no time.

Dheeraj –ffk king –we forgive you this time around for backing out coz you need to go to Jakarta. Have fun.

Suresh, we’re hijacking your friends! Wish you were here to go with us too. We’ll party on your behalf!

Cousins – party when we get back.

Baby sis – I’ve ordered this for you coz I feel like spending some $ on you, lol. Plus it irks me to see your earrings scattered around in that ugly box. Will bring you back more accesories from hatyai. Love you.

It can store up to 96 earrings yo.

AIRASIA WE WUV YOU

We’re postponing our Ozzie trip to August so bro-in-law and my sis can come with us when they’re back from UK. So come mid May, we’ll be off for 5 days to……BALI! AND we got the package at a real steal :)

Ok I need to be up at 5am so have a fun weekend and till then, The Mrs Blogs OUT and away in Hatyai!

Inner Wheel Pre-AGM

16 Mar

Ok so mom-in-law invited us to the Inner Wheel Pre-AGM at Corus Hotel on Friday night.

What the heck is Inner Wheel la?

Inner Wheel Club is an international organisation which is closely linked to the Rotary Club. Prior to 1989, Rotary generally prohibited women as members. As a result of their non-membership in Rotary, a second club was made for the wives and daughters of Rotarians, known as the Inner Wheel Club. Despite women now being able to join Rotary, many Inner Wheels still exist in many different countries.

Talk about girl power!

The theme: Hawaiian night

Hubby dressed for the occassion: the one shirt that needs to go, agreed?

The night was filled with performances and aunties catching up with each other. I swear the hubby, myself and madhu were the only young ones around.

Some of the performances for the night:

Bollywood babes:

Old poh-pohs thugging Oh this is SO cute.

Look Ma, Elvis is alive!!

Aunties and their hula dance

Models for the night

And they danced the night away…

My mom and mom-in-law are somewhere in the crowd:

The pictures aren’t so clear. Shit, I think I need a new camera. Any recommendations?

Isn’t he the sweetest?:

Wasn’t feeling so good so hubby decided to cook us lunch. And YES the man can really cook :)

NOW, if only he can do this for me everyday :)
