Thai Food And More Thai Food

30 Apr

Last Friday, I decided to do something nice for the other half since I realized he was going to leave me for 3 weeks to go back to what I now call his second home because he speaks of Manila like he was born and bred there.

It annoys me so badly that I’ve told him to move there and never come back.

Decided to play nice nevertheless and made him an entire course of Thai food! I wasn’t kidding when I said we’re going to have Thai for the next 1 month ok ;) Besides he made a special request for it too so there :)

Entire pot of Tom Yam soup for him (because I’m not a soup-y person). If I had it my way dessert would come first. And then last again :)

Appetizer:

Fish fillet with special top secret sauce. Haha no it’s a combination of a few sauces that oozes out a sweet and sour taste – “very delicious” according to hubby so this will stay in my recipe book aka cramped in the pile of papers in the kitchen drawer.

Thai Green Curry – this was super yum because I added basil and lime leaves and chillies which added an awesome kick to it.

My favourite Chinese style Broccoli

Reese’s Brownie – the best pre-packed brownie everrrr

After dinner, I whipped out his gift – tada- a little I’m-going–to-miss-you-so-who’s-going-to-paint-my-nails-now gesture.

Hmm…..still wondering who is going to paint em :(

He shakes it a little and asks me if it’s a hand phone since his current one is going psycho on him. Hmpfffffff YOU WISH BABY! Bonus is next month only.

Finally rips it apart and was quite excited to see a perfume (I hope la), said his current collection is finishing so quite timely this gift.

It makes me so happy just to see a smile and the excitment on his face :)

Getting a big thank you from him, haha and that was starters if you get my drift, hahaha and yes lucky for you coz the pictures end here. Wohooo for the long weekend. Bye!

Random E-mail bits from the husband:

Me: Looks like babies are popping out every way and everyone’s a daddy except you :p

He: Ok come, we make a baby soon…or just get a dog:)

Me: Eeee your baby? I don’t mind the process of it ;) But I think I’ll go with the dog, hehehe :)

Am I a mean wife or what?!

Nike Event @ MidValley

28 Apr

Me at a Nike event? Despite not owning a single pair of sneakers? (Do ancient sneakers count?).

But my ears heard those sweet magical words….

“There’s going to be FREE whiskey – I’ll put you guys on the guest list”

Without contemplating much – I mean seriously when someone says free booze what is there to think about. Just Do It – har har. So naturally and quite expected of me, I told Mena we’ll be there rain or shine. Then she said the show would start at 6.30pm and end at 9pm @ Thursday night.

We found it wasn’t true:

Ok it was on a Thursday but there was no whiskey (only beer) in sight and the show ended at 8pm – the very minute we signed in and stepped into the event. Blasphemy. Murphy oh Murphy!

BUT (thankfully it’s a good but)

At least we got our goodie bags – FREEBIES *happy sial*

But not happy that my yo yo broke in less than 5 minutes. [I demand a 50% discount on ALL Nike merchandise going forward].

Freebie-holic spotted:

And couldn’t wait to rip the goodie bag apart in the restaurant just to see if there were free Nike shoes in it ;) I am married to a child – tell me something I don’t already know.

And yes a reunion – it’s been 5 months since we had a proper one. It was good catching up you guys.

True to my I-dowan-to-look-so-haddap-one I waited to go home to open it and to my dismay found out the Baby Tee was a size S (which I suspect is a XS disguised as a size S because it’s that midgety elf-ishly small tee fit for a BABY).

WHY, really WHY would anyone be so cruel and heartless to hand me over a dwarf size Tee when clearly and just too damn very evidently – I can’t fit into it. Anymore.

Bastards.

Seething, feeling damn insulted I thought what the heck, just try it on to see how a hippo struggles into something small and tight – at least that would be sadistically fun to watch against the mirror and something to blog about incase I brutally fall down and hurt myself while attempting to wriggle myself out of it *please use your imagination at this point hor*

But shockingly enough I CAN FIT INTO THAT MIDGETY DWARFY SIZE TEE

How is that possible? *scratches head*

Nay I don’t’ do free advertisements but I like em freebies *grins*

I still refuse to believe I can fit into a midget size tee – I suspect Nike has come up with this ingenious way of automatically expanding the tee to fit your REAL size (while increasing their sales to their disillusioned customers, genius!) – which in any case is a swell idea, don’t you think?

Coz we’ll forever be a Size S. Forever!

Random Photo Of The Day: Cam-whoring in a cab while stuck in Bangkok jam, hehehe :)

Last Day @ Karon Beach

26 Apr

Despite going to bed close to 6 a.m, we were up all packed to leave to Karon Beach at 12 p.m the next day. Wasn’t such an easy task!

Karon Beach is the 2nd most developed beach area in Phuket with the first being Patong Beach, naturally. If one hates the hustle and bustle and the amount of people in Patong, they can always pick Karon because it’s quiet, laid back and more serene.

Said our goodbyes to the folks in Courtyard Marriot and took a taxi ride that took us to Karon Beach in 10 minutes. For that short ride, it cost us RM30. I hate the taxi/tuk tuk drivers in Phuket coz their so bloody demanding and lazy!! They rather sleep at the road side instead of taking us for a price that we deem fair. It’s much more competitive and cheap in Krabi, Hatyai and even Bangkok.

Karon was definitely a much refreshing change from Patong Beach. People here are more refined and well behaved. No trannies here or clubs for that matter.

We checked into Pacific Club Resort – this ranked no 1 out of 51 hotels in Karon on TripAdvisor

Hotel room was on me (must return the generosity after all) after research that was done proudly during office hours, ssshh.

The one thing that I didn’t like about the hotel was the fact that it was on top of a hill which made walking into town a bit of a pain. Everything else was perfect though :)) Great place to make a baby.

KIDDING.

So after checking in we took a cab that cost us RM10 for a 2 minute ride into town for some lunch. See why I hate them?

They were out of Chai Yen hence the pouty look :p

Thai Green Curry, again? Ha ha.

Checked out the town a bit then as expected went for a 1 hour foot massage. Our feet got some serious pampering throughout the trip I tell you. Did more walking and then went back to the hotel. The walk back was long and painful! It took us 20 minutes to get back and we were drenched in sweat by the time we go back to our room. Eeeek.

Took a nap yet again and by 5.30 pm we were all set for the BEACH!

Some cute puppies we made friends with on the way

Wearing his new RM15 singlet, hahaha. He looks quite the rempit doesn’t he?

The gorgeous beach in Karon

Spotted – a hunky beach bum that I took home for a damn good time :)

Check out the waves and my sexy David Hasslehoff in action, muahaha.

We only got into the water together for 10 minutes because I had my bag and camera with me and errr accidentally brought our passports in the bag so was kinda paranoid about leaving the bag alone on the bench. I’m VERY paranoid where passports are concerned and I always keep my husband’s one too coz I don’t trust him with it!

Skipped the bikini coz you know *shy* *cough* *fat*

Attracting more cute dogs on the beach

By the time we left the beach it was close to 7.30pm. Made our way back to the hotel for a quick shower and then headed to The Dining Room restaurant at the hotel.

Food here was sooo good and before even landing in Phuket I knew we would eat here on our very last night (because I checked out their menu in advance, haha)

Appetizer

Hubby’s Thai Dish

Feeling a tad sick from Thai food I went for the Chicken Parmiagana with Spaghetti – yummy

Then it was packing time :( Dreaded this part because packing would mean heading home which means back to reality eg: WORK, our routine, the hustle bustle of city life etc! Argh. Slept around 12 and we were up by 5ish to catch a 8.15 a.m flight.

As we got to the Immigration counter, the Thai officer saw my passport and started to grin and said something to another officer who went close to examine my passport. They both started laughing and said something

Great, I thought – maybe I do look like shit in my passport picture.

Then he said ‘ you no Thailand passport?’

LOL. I said no.

When it was hubby’s turn the officer continued smiling and said to the other officer – honeymoon in sing song manner.

Ah good to know we still got that honeymoon glow on us :)

Then it was time to say – sawat-dee lao jer gun. Quite upset I forgot to buy some Thai tea leaves so I could make it at home :(

Overall – good trip despite the weather. But we did spend more than we expected for that short 3 nights – despite not shopping for clothes ok. Goes to show Phuket is expensive and more of a haven for them Matsallehs. OR if you’re not earning in MYR currency.

We’re already planning for another Thailand trip – hopefully Chiang Mai (Grandma’s hometown!) come June.

Day 2 – Patong Beach

23 Apr

It was Day 2 and the not so early risers woke up late and got ready by 12p.m. Grabbed a quick bite from 7-11 coz we were still full from last night’s dinner and headed for a 2 hour session of massage.

PURE BLISS.

I decided on the foot and Thai massage while the other half went for a footie and oil massage at Bali Hai Spa that comes highly recommended :)

The entire package for both cost us RM100 which is generally what you’d pay for one person here in KL. Insanely cheap ok.

Dozed off for 2 more hours while being pampered and boy did it feel great. We decided to go to Jung Ceylon mall again coz fatty me spotted a Swensens outlet a day earlier.

As far as I remember Swensen in Thailand is dirt cheap but not in Phuket where it will cost you RM15 which is the same price in KL. Boo. But with the weather blazing so hot the treat was worth every penny to cool off.

We decided to shop for some groceries to take home so ended up in Carrefour, again – not complaining :)

OMG spoilt for choices!

Stocked up on lots of drinks and from the pictures, you now know what I’ll be cooking for the next 1 month, hahaha. Anyone wants some Thai food, drop over and bring a bottle of champagne for the cook.

Made a stop at Boots too but mostly his items ok :p

Had a late lunch at Black Canyon and incase you don’t already know, we DO have a Black Canyon here in Summit USJ and Bandar Utama. Their Thai Iced Tea is a-w-e-s-o-m-e.

As we were going to leave the mall, it rained – heavily. Hallelujah! Finally, I was hoping the rain would make Phuket more cooling. But no – humidity was horrid. My hair frizzed up like a fur ball and we sweated it out like we were in a sauna. Aiyayay – not a pleasant feeling at all!

Walked around and explored Jung Ceylon Mall a bit more. At the same time, cuci mata a bit since a lot of guys were walking around topless, hahaha. I think half the tattooed population come to Phuket to get their tattoos done.

We explored Bangla Road to have a better view of what it looks like during the day. It-was-different. Much less crowded compared to what we saw at night. There were still a handful of people drinking at the pubs as early as 4pm! We did so much walking and you can’t imagine how it felt having to carry 3-4 bags of heavy groceries while sweating like pigs. I am a superhero for doing all that and still have the energy to take pictures *pats head*

The beach in Patong area.

Finally got back to the hotel around 6, put our groceries away and headed to the bazaar opposite our hotel. There were more open air pubs coupled with tons of shopping stalls manned by the Banglas – YES Banglas in Thailand who all speak fluent Thai! Wonder if Bangla Road is actually named after them?

Dinner for the night – 2 Pancake Banana with Nutella and Vanilla

Went back to the hotel for a power nap and woke up only at 8.45pm to get ready.

Finally it was clubbing time! YES. Headed straight to Bangla Road and made our first stop at Rock City!

This place is absolutely amazing if you love live bands. Awesome bloody bands I kid you not. Drinks are much steeper (but very strong) because it’s air-conditioned.

Having a good kind of shot from the ‘doctor’

Next stop – Tranny club and no that’s not the name of it – I just can’t remember.

This place pulled a huge crowd just based on the amount of people sitting inside and to those standing outside for a free show. Because I can tell you all these people were in awe, stumped at how it’s possible for men to look this gorgeous. I mean it’s hard to tell they were once men until they open their mouths. But a good indicator would be their height, voice, slutty clothes and heavy makeup. Just incase one thinks they’re going to ’score’ with a gorgeous babe ;)

Check out the curves. I’M JEALOUS. Can you ever tell it’s a HE from the back?? Or used to have a pee pee once upon a time?

They’re all fully operated on which means they have boobs and a slit for a vagina (I know coz they lifted their dress and I peaked – I’m going to hell for that) except….except they’ll never get an orgasm. So sad kan? But hubby and I still can’t decide if they do it in their fake vagina or ass, hmm….

Gosh I look SO fat next to him/her/IT *shame on me, shameful*

Just when I was about to take a picture – he/she (shit I’m confused) dropped her top and grabbed my husband’s hand to put it on her chest – hence the husband’s shocked expression. CLASSIC picture which I will show the kids one day :))

Apparently I can speak Thai after a few drinks because we only paid RM4 to pose with this fella. I’m still laughing at the white sucker who paid RM20 to pose with a lizard, HA HA.

I really did kiss it :p

After having 2 very strong long island tea, we headed off to a sleazy place that promised a certain kind of show which turned out to be BS since it’s been recently banned in Phuket. Ended up paying RM50 each for one damn drink while looking at topless women with small tits, no curve and couldn’t dance to save a show. The tranny club wins! Husband was commenting how his tits were much bigger, lol. And damn I agree. I honestly DARE say I can move it better ;) Needless to say the ‘show’ we saw in Bangkok was far better and entertaining. What a rip off.

Our last and most exciting stop was Tai Pan Club. It’s probably the BEST club I’ve ever been to. They played awesome music non-stop, it felt like the DJ knew my favorite songs in and out. I wanna be his groupie, seriously.

We danced for hours and honestly lost track of time. We were the few last ones to leave @ 5.30 a.m :p

Total damage for the night: RM250. Eeeks, expensive like KL! Bali seems like a cheaper option to club!

Popped by 7-11 for some snacks, at this point I really did wish for a nice hot plate of maggi goreng, sigh.

Fun night out – and what a way to end Day 2. And yes we did go to the beach incase you’re wondering. That will be in the next post.

Day 1 – Phuket, Thailand

21 Apr

Venue: Phuket, Thailand
Date: 18/4/2009 – 21/4/2009

Hello folks, trust your weekend was a good one.

I have good news and bad news to share.

Bad news is our Boracay plans have been shelved off at the moment because of hubby’s uncertain work schedule in Manila which makes it a B to the i-a-t-c-h to plan. Hence our Boracay adventure will be postponed to end May or even June :(

Bugger you Murphy.

So what’s a wifey to do?

Bats her pretty eyes (minus the almost botak eyelashes on the left eye, why are they dropping!!) while she whines in a cute AND annoying (oh yes it’s possible) manner how she’s totally over-worked and points out the fact that she has yet to go on a holiday in 3 months to her husband?

BINGO. Or you could just tell him you’ll leave him if he doesn’t do anything about it. I’m just suggesting *grins*

So what’s a husband to do because he just wants the whining and batting to stop? Well….

Let’s just say we spent the past 4 days in Phuket :) Success! *bats botak eyelashes* That’s the good news FYI!

We booked our holiday in less than a week from our departure date. Talk about being spontaneous, it’s a turn on ;) Good thing flights were fairly affordable and even a bigger surprise when hubby decided to treat me to a free flight (he can be generous sometimes, esp after his bonus lol).

Within an hour, we were there in Phuket. We arrived way too early at 8 a.m – Phuket was our second visit but first as a couple.

Took a cab that took us to Patong Beach in 45 minutes. The driver stopped by at his office and this Thai pussy just jumped on top of our car, haha.

The owner of the agency kept asking my husband if I’m his Thai wife ;) To cut it short, I got mistaken for a Thai one too many times. Kinda nice to see them get happy when I tell them I have 25% Thai blood but can’t speak the langauge. Except for Chai Yen which means gimme my Thai Iced Tea damnit!

Ok la janji they don’t mistake me for a ladyboy – it’s all good baby.

Feeling happy to be ‘home’

We checked in at Courtyard Marriott in Patong Beach for 2 nights. The hotel was free because we’re special-like-that.

The folks at Marriott were kind enough to let us check in at 9 a.m in the morning. Now that’s what I call service.

Quite a gorgeous hotel conveniently located at the corner of the Beach and the happening surroundings.

For more details and pictures, click here

Quickly freshened up and went out for something light for breakfast. The first thing we HAD to do was have Thai Iced Tea and Coffee at a local stall.

On our way to breakfast we got stopped by a French couple who asked us if we could speak French. LOL, like seriously WHICH part of our faces look like we can?

I told my husband they gave me the swinger vibe :))

And of course, naturally the next BEST thing you could do to pamper yourself is to get a damn foot massage which only cost us RM20 each :)))

Btw see my painted toe nails? My hubby painted it for me coz he’s got such steady hands :)

After 1 hour of relaxing, we walked around Patong area for a bit. And mind you, the weather was horrid! It was way too hot and the humidity was madness – we were drenched wet in no time. Wasn’t too happy about that.

Stopped by at Jung Ceylon mall and shopped for a sun glasses and some groceries. Their carrefour outlet is so amazingly big with tons of goodies! Plus it felt good to walk around in the mall coz of the air conditioner, hehe.

I’m too sexy for my shades….too sexy for my shades…

Decided to have some Thai food, which I have to say is bloody expensive in Phuket thanks to all these white people. Every where you go, you see them and they have no qualms forking out any amount which makes the locals demand for alot of $ for everything. The key is to bargain.

Food in general is quite expensive here. We paid on average about RM35-40 for meals for 1 person – which we shared most of the time.

Chicken Satay:

Yummy Thai Green Curry:

Hauls for the day:

My personal favorite coz it’s so damn true

And not forgetting Hubby’s prized items – cheap beers

After a late lunch, we walked back to the hotel around 3pm feeling SO tired coz of the early morning flight. The weather didn’t help either ok.

Drenched wet from all that walking, eeeek.

The hotel had an awesome rain shower so we took a longggg shower (infact we took 4 showers a day coz of the stinkin weather) to cool off and have a little fun ;)

Watched TV a little and slept till 7 pm – on a holiday what :p

Oh he’s such a show off :p

A nice picture of a fresh me before I get drenched, again :(

Around 8pm, we headed for dinner. Yup no guesses it was Thai food yet again :))

Decided to go check out Simon Cabaret which cost us RM70 each for tickets. Walked about a good 20 minutes to get there. The show featured all these lady boys who look so awesome. Made me feel like shit seriously.

Pictures pictures…

This one looks exactly like Kylie Minogue I kid you not. Gorgeous thing – until he opened his mouth and went beaouttifulll, kaam take pictureee while calling me out ;)

Pity the one thing they can’t change is their manly voice!

No pictures of the husband with them coz he was too disgusted to go near.

After the show we took a tuk tuk that cost us RM15 for a freakin 3 minutes ride to Bangla Road. That’s where all the action is – tons of clubs at every freaking corner. I LIKE.

Check out the map to all the clubs:

Unfortunately for me, I couldn’t drink on Saturday night coz I was on antibiotics. SUCKED big time ok :( I let the husband drink while I sipped on my juice. I was probably the most miserable sober person on Bangla Road, haha.

The one cool concept of some of the pubs, besides being open air – they actually have games to keep the customers entertained. And the games are innocent ok.

For instance – hitting the nail into a barrel. Looks easy but you have to use the opposite side of the hammer. Hubby won a FREE beer after he beat the waitress at it

Check out the red lightings

That’s orange juice – REALLY

Walked around Bangla Road for a bit. The Aussies are everywhere here! Infact, you get alot of Australian pubs where they all hang out and get totally wasted.

We left back to the hotel around 2 a.m – relatively early because

1) We were dead tired
2) No fun coz I wasn’t drinking

Made a quick stop for some snacks – this banana pancake with nutella and banana was SO bloody good!

No doubt our first day in Phuket was a little bit toned down – very relaxing. Second day was a blast with all that partying. Will blog it soon coz I have tons of pictures and even videos to put up.
