Baby Sairah’s Home

29 Mar

Baby Sairah’s Home

The apartment is about 70% complete at this point. Which also means this would be the final update on our apartment renovation before we reveal the end product :D   Hopefully all will be done and settled by end April. There’s still alot of little details that needs to be looked into, like the deco and basically putting furnitures in. And also buying some. I still don’t have a dressing table and God forbid we move in before getting one!!

On Sunday we spent sometime unpacking our kitchen items. Had to give it a good clean wash coz of the dust.

I present you our kitchen:

A before photo of the dingy looking place

And now an after photo *drumroll pleaseeee*

What do you think? It definitely looks much lively and cozy now.

Only tiles we changed were these:

And of course the mosaic tiles but I have to say it actually brightens up the kitchen. The husband also bought new kitchen appliances so wohoo to cooking and baking soon. For the record I’ve not cooked or baked in the past 6 months. I *hope* I remember how to cook :D

OVEN – mmm I’m thinking baked pasta, brownies, baked chicken ooo baby the possibilities are endless!

I LOVE the spice rack from Ikea. It’s much more organized now and I can easily reach out for it instead of fumbling to look for it.

And now for my pride and joy’s room.

This is how it looked like when we first got the keys to the apartment:

It gets A+++ for a gloomy look. Honestly can’t bear the thought of my baby staying in this room.

Anyway, since I was in charge of the room, I wanted it to be a HAPPY girly place. In a few years time when she’s older and invites her little friends over to play, I want them to open her door and go ‘waaah your room so niceee la Sairah’, lol. And then she can say it’s thanks to her mother’s brilliant idea.

SO, the first step was to put in a cute chandelier. Walked into a few shops  before stumbling upon this one. It was the cheapest we could find as well. Priced at RM300 before I begged the taukeh to  give us a small discount. Final price was RM280. SCORE!

Next were the walls. We were mulling over which type of pink to choose – should we go with a bright one or dark shade? We finally picked a very light pink based on the color chart, but after painting, it seemed like it was almost cotton-candy color. Bright! My dad thinks it’s way too out there but I totally fell in love with it after seeing it.

It’s EXACTLY what I wanted. SCORE!

It’s not really reflected well in my stupid camera but rest assured I will get some professional photos taken and will put it up soon (Wylane, please chop Jove for this special project, heeh).

Next up, I initially wanted to hack out the stupid brown cupboard and book shelf. After thinking it through, figured we could do with the extra closet space (for baby Sairah’s growing wardrobe of course!) BUT on one condition. That the said cupboard and bookshelf gets transformed to a WHITE one.

Dunno what my dad is pointing at but he managed to get someone to do this special job :) Oh it’s so gorgeous now!

The almost finished book shelf just screaming for some decorative stuff on it:

Again, please excuse my camera, it’s much more gorgeous in person. Even my sis and mom said so when they saw it yesterday. AND Baby Sairah tagged along too and I have to say, she was all smiles in that particular room. I guess she’s EXTREMELY happy with it. It’s a happy place that’s why (people with BAD stinky chi and heart are not allowed in this room, period)! There’s still ALOT more to be done to her room before it gets transformed into my dream nursery for Sairah :)

Just to show you how much of dust was looming around her room. I had to sweep FOUR times and every time I would find this much of dust. Eww.

And for the record, we just got these tiles replaced with wooden flooring yesterday :) It’s much more cozy and definitely gives the place a whole different look altogether.

More photos revealed soon so that’s a good reason to come back to this blog, tee hee :D

The Return Of Ze Social Life

The Return Of Ze Social Life

I had a pretty eventful weekend so thought I’d share it on my blog.

Friday:

Got an exclusive invite from Nicole to celebrate her 30th birthday at Nero Fico in Damansara Heights. The food was good, esp the cod fish, the ambiance was even better since it was very romantically set in a private room, and the birthday girl made turning 30 very desirable. 30 is the new 20 folks.

Said cod fish:

Said romantic settings:

Said Birthday Girl:

Me and Nicole with her PINK (and I might add, VERY expensive) Herve Leger dress. God knows I wouldn’t be able to fit even half a leg into one of those, hehe.

I actually got the husband to babysit Sairah (actually I’m guessing mom probably would have done more babysitting) at home while I stole a few hours away from them. I would have chilled out with Nicole and her friends longer but what do you know, mama-duty calls.

Sat:

It was my very FIRST time taking Baby Sairah out alone with my friends. Surprisingly I managed just fine though the little one was a tad cranky hence I had to walk in and out of the restaurant to keep her entertained. And Wylane actually almost toppled the empty stroller while we were taking the escalator, LOL. Don’t know why I ever bothered bringing the stroller when I was carrying her the entire time. Sorry Wylane but that made good practice for you :p  I don’t blame her, I’m not very good at handling the stroller myself.

Had to pick Siew Chen and Little Vera up. And folks, toddlers aren’t usually suppose to sit in the front seat. But we didn’t have a choice coz there were TWO babies in the car (three if you count the husband) and the back passenger seats and boot were FULL of baby stuff. The husband after dropping us jetted off for a 2 hour massage, lucky bugger!

Maaaaaaaa why is there a Chinese kid in front with daddy???!

LOL she looks genuinely concerned and worried.

Lunch was of course in Canoodling in Bangsar Village. Again :) They have really good noodles. Cheep cheep too!

Sairah wears:

Pink baby tee with matching skirt that screams ELLE on butt: Elle From Bangkok (Thanks to my aunt aka affectionately called Sairah’s Subang Grandma)

Pink princess headband: Lovely Lace

Deer caught in the headlight look: Model’s own thanks to Wylane forgetting to turn off the flash, lol

Shoe-like socks: From Manila

Vera with her mama

Sairah with Vera’s mama

Sairah with her mama :)

And Wylane the Nanny for the day with her camera, hehehe

@ Coffeebean with the little one having her eyes on my pure vanilla blended drink, yums

Grumples up from her nap. See the dagger look? She got it from  her mammaa……don’t mess yo.

Trying hard to make her smile

Little ms grumpy managing a half-baked smile

Sunday:

Had a quick catch up with Madhu and Kavin (not pictured, forgot to take photo of the anneh) @ Papa Rich near Madhu’s place.

Guess someone will be carrying her OWN come end April :D

The little one wears:

Onesie: Disney Winnie The Pooh, shipped from US.

The onesie was rather boy-ish looking with its brown and orange combo. So to make her look feminine, I made her wear a netural colored headband for a girly girl touch.

Headband: Lovely Lace

Now I look like a girl Ma.

A neutral white socks with frills (bought from Malacca me thinks) to complement her earth look :D

Pretty long coverage about my weekend, so that only goes to show my social life and weekends are slowllyyy (but surely) getting back into order. Wohooo.

Why You Fat Now

23 Mar

Ever since giving birth I have been getting some remarks about my weight. Well yes, I was slim once upon a time. Well yes, I eventually did put on weight from being pregnant (and that’s a good excuse to, it’s a damn right) Well yes, such is life.

My body wasn’t built like a supermodel’s and if I had the ability to lose all that pregnancy weight in a jiffy then I would be sashaying mah tush down the runaway modeling for VS instead of updating this blog. Gisele Bundchen I am not.

I was taking a lift when I bumped into the aunty who used to collect rubbish from my previous department. She asked how’s the baby doing but not before saying ‘Waah dah berisi sekarang’. Translation: You’ve got a lot of meat on you, yea like I’m some sort of damn farm animal la. With a lot of meat on me, I bet I’ll be first in line at the slaughter house!

I didn’t take any offense to it but then I got irritated because this came from someone who wasn’t exactly slim in figure and had no front teeth. I’m not being mean or anything but did she not look in the mirror to reflect herself before making such a statement about me? There I was minding my own business trying to get to the car park when I could have said something about those missing teeth. But guess she beat me to it. Damnit.

Then came this lady who helped tie my saree for a wedding. She knew I had just given birth a few months ago but yet she commented that I’ve put on weight. Err like hello, putting on weight IS a natural process of pregnancy. Some weight have shed off, the rest are SLOWLY leaving me so give a woman some time for god’s sake. She then went on about how slim I used to be.

Hello friend, can you show me a handbook or any law that says once-upon-a-time slim people aren’t allowed to be fat. And vice versa for that matter?

Thought so.

I used to have a friend who at first sight would ALWAYS comment on your body weight. If you’ve put on, she’ll go ‘wah so fat already ar you’, and if I’ve lost weight, she would ask me what’s the secret, It used to IRRITATE me to no end because I think it’s rather creepy for someone you’ve not seen in a long time to start the conversation by commenting about your body. Anyway, that girl did have some major body issues. Go figure. I do think it’s a Malaysian thing to comment about someone’s appearance first more than anything else.

I on the other hand, would not say it out loud. If you’ve put on weight, fine, so bet it. Life must be good then. I honestly do not see the point in pointing out the obvious. Do they really think that people who have put on weight are deluded?? That we don’t know that we have?? Trust me bitches, those who have put on weight, are AWARE that we’ve packed on the pounds. It’s like telling someone who is blind that he/she is blind. Ridiculous. Clothes don’t lie. Mirrors don’t lie. We know! What exactly are they trying to achieve by pointing out the obvious? I don’t get it. Self satisfaction?

The extra weight does not really bother me, so often I wonder why does it bother others. I’m already married, to a handsome husband at that, and a mother to a gorgeous baby. I have other better things to worry about than whether I’m a size 0 or not. Gone are those days. I’d hate to starve myself coz I need the energy. Besides, we can afford a lot of good food okay?

Seriously people, there are worse things in life, really.

So please, only make comments about someone’s weight IF you’re one Miss Universe or if you’re a Gisele look-alike can? Otherwise you leave one with no choice but to point YOUR flaws. Why yes I might have put on some weight, but I can always lose it, but how would you go about fixing your face though hmmmm? Okay I’m kidding, I aint that mean. :D

Better still, imma going to carry a mirror with me next time so I can point it at them. Yes, think I’ll do just that

P.s: Okay I’m NOT that upset or pissed as it might appear to be, just making a mickey about some people’s mentality and attitude :p Now off to starve myself, NOT!

The Haunting Of A Pumpkin Patch Dress

The Haunting Of A Pumpkin Patch Dress

Have you ever had a piece of cloth haunt the living day lights out of you?

About a month ago the family and cousins went out for dinner in Bangsar Village. We were just strolling around when I walked into Pumpkin Patch for the first time and saw this beautifullllll pink and blue dress that screamed PERFECT for Baby Sairah. If there’s ever such a thing then yes it was indeed love at first sight for me (though I’m not sure how that dress felt about me, I hope it was mutual, heh). I flipped to check the price, all eager to grab it and pay at the counter when the figure RM109 stared back at me. FARK, RM109 for something this tiny? ABSURD! I walked out, feeling bummed that it was THAT expensive. Heck even I don’t splurge and buy clothes worth RM109 for myself okay. Bags yes, but not clothes.

I tried reasoning very hard that it’s RM109 because it’s branded, it’s from Australia, the material is soft to the touch and of high quality, your baby girl deserves this, she’ll love you more, she’ll look so adorable in this, that’s how much baby dresses cost in Malaysia, just look at the color combination on this one woman, you won’t find something similar online or in a different shop, why are you so stingy, just splurge damnit……….nope, didn’t work, my legs and wallet didn’t budge (and more importantly my will power and discipline was quite strong that it really took me by surprise) so I went home empty handed and I thought that was the end of it.

But NO.  That was just the beginning.

That damn dress haunted me every day for the past one month. Quite randomly I would think of that dress, images of how my baby girl would look like it in would pop, out of the blue. We would go to other malls I would instinctively look out for Pumpkin Patch, walk in to see if the same dress was there, and I would see it, touch it, flip again to double check the price and see if there’s a discount and pretty much walk out without it, not wanting to pay the said amount for this dress. Crazy much? Yes indeed.

Can’t believe a damn dress has that much power over me. I blame it on motherhood, really!!

Then about a few days ago the husband said he got his bonus. Granted most of the money is already going for the apartment renovation and the damn cost of it keeps going up, I put on my thickest bravest skin and asked him what’s he going to buy his baby girl? I obviously didn’t give him a second to think (coz it was probably going to be something stupid and irritable like ‘let’s get her more milk or diapers’ damn bloody essentials are not what you splurge your bonus on okay?), so I told him about the dress and YES, with a straight face, extended my hands while wriggling my fingers and said, RM110 pleaseeee. My sister who was standing next to me just went ‘eeee no shame’, haha :D

The husband disappears and a few minutes later, handed RM130 to me and when I told him the dress was RM110 only, he said  ‘keep the change’. I don’t know if I should have smacked him or indulge in his sick humor but what the heck, I got what I wanted and was THRILLED over such an accomplishment.

The haunting have since stopped and I have my peace of mind once again.

This baby is much more gorgeous in person. Even the Sister is in LOVE with it :D

Just look at the girly color combo. Absolutely SWEET! I got her the 12-18 months one so we can stretch it a little longer. I’m obviously going to maximise every single freaking cent of it so excuse me if this baby wears this dress almost every other day! It was also the ONLY  piece in that size left *bliss*

I got her a customized matching headband too, EVEN before getting this dress.

One happy baby. I haven’t put the dress on her yet though coz it’s just too gorgeous.

Oh and if you really must know, I spent the balance of RM20 on cupcakes at Bisou, heeh.

The Hunky Hubbies Search

16 Mar

The Hunky Hubbies Search

The Malaysian Women’s Weekly held a Hunky Hubbies Search recently. Did you drag your other half down to Empire in Subang so you could nominate him?

No? Okay good………….more chances of MY husband winning then :p *stubby fingers crossed*

After bathing the baby (who has recently developed a fondness of splashing water ALL over us by kicking hard), putting her to sleep coz she was already sleepy, rushing to get ready, feeding her, burping her, changing her, packing up her gazillion stuff –we were finally ready to go! Phew.

Sairah’s Sunday outfit consisted of:

Orange Dress: From Maldives

Pink Cardigan: from UK (Thanks Aunty Mena, if you’re reading this. Didn’t think she would be able to fit into it but what do you know!)

Pink Headband: From Manila

Socks: Mothercare

(I swear she has a tinge of classiness with this outfit).

Yes it says Quack :D

And since Sairah’s mommie is quite the quack, here are LOTS of photos of my baby girl who was EXTRA smiley and ever ready to take on the camera. Plus snapping photos made the journey a little more faster, heh.

This is her You-don’t-know-it-yet-but-Imma-going-to-make-you-buy-me-something-later- look :) And it worked for her daddy got her a cute lil dress from Lovely Lace……didn’t even think twice as he grabbed the dress and went straight to pay at the counter!!

And then her mommy got all excited and got her a lace headband from the same shop.

Yay, we’re going to the mall, alrighttt!

Don’t care what you say but I think baby girl looks like me in this photo!!

I basically had to nominate the husband for this contest and give reasons why he’s a good husband. A little bit disappointed with myself coz I had a ton of nice things to say in my head but when the time came to write it down, I fumbled and gave them some boring cock answer. But I did say he’s every-woman’s-dream-husband so :D Hey a little white lie sometimes doesn’t hurt :p Esp if it can help you win a holiday and some cash!

Now I really should put up some photos of the Hunky Hubby isn’t it?

Oh yes, he’s quite the handsome when he’s not being such a NERD, lol. But if you ask me, nerdy men make the best husbands since you can push em around hehehe :)

Had lunch at The Vanilla Place, a small cafe on the same floor where Toy R Us is and man is that floor PACKED with strollers, babies and proud parents. We TOTALLY belong there thesedays :D

The hubby’s ham sandwich

My chicken tikka masala pasta – YUMS

While the meals were pretty decent, the drinks sucked BIG TIME. And to think we paid RM9 each, absurd. We’ll stick to Starbucks or Coffee Bean next time, thank you vely much.

If you’re looking for a good deal on this place, check this out . You have 12 hours left to buy it.

Hunky Hubby tearing up his goodie bag. The big Asience conditioner is MINE of course :)

Clearly has a penchant for free gifts, hehe

The goodie bag was pretty awesome so thank you The Malaysian Woman’s Weekly. Definitely made the trip to Empire with baby in tow worth it.

What the hell is on mah stroller woman?

Meh, daddy sucks at making the baby smile for the camera.

Photo time with mommie. And yes if you’re quite fed up with the photos already, go on, the X button is on your right – adios amigo.

Ok after a while even the baby got bored of posing. Kept looking at some kids playing around.

But it only took her a few minutes of ‘rest’ before she started posing again, hehe

Promise I aint storing no milk in those cheeks.

Oooo dad lookie, a lip gloss!! Can I have some?

Results for the contest should be out later this month so fingers crossed.

As cliche as it sounds, even if he doesn’t win, he’s clearly already a winner in my eyes.

Ok screw that, I’m lying. I want him to WIN so freakingly badly coz the prizes are pretty awesome.
