Ze Eiffel Tower

28 Jul

Ze Eiffel Tower

You can’t possibly go to Paris and say you’ve not seen the Eiffel Tower because it’s everywhere! It’s akin to a crazy ex-gf/bf stalking your every move, lol. It’s SOO tall and huge that you see it everywhere you go within the Paris vincinity.

Lo and behold the Eiffel Tower is staring at you :)

This is the view from the top of Arc De Triomphe

Fine, so I’m pretending like I walked allll the way up using the stairs when we secretly used the elevator meant for old/disabled folks (well technically I am old in the sense that I have BACK issues!). Did have to use the stairs to walk down though and I’m GLAD we went up using the lift!!

One tired looking husband who had been working hard that past few days. But more on that later :D

A view of Paris too while we’re up there

A top view of the famed Champ-Elysees

Which is the house to a HUGE LV store which I did not walk into AT ALL!

A Malaysian anneh on said famous street.

Here we are at the bottom (obviously :p) of the arch

My memory sucks, can’t remember where this is but it gave an excellent view of the stalker tower.

Ze Eiffel Tower with the husband

Ze Eiffel Tower and the wife

Group photo coz we’re buddies like that.

And this mind you was from another location, perhaps 10 mins drive away from the Eiffel Tower.

Before we made our way to see the tower upclose and personal, we took a short lunch break first in one of the cafes.

Restaurants in Paris have tables and seats placed SOOO close by to each other that you can hear what the person next door is talking about.  And having for lunch. Lucky for them I dont speak French. Or snoop around to see what’s on their table which I realize is quite a Malaysian thing to do :)

What to eat, what to eat….

A happy bunny so long there’s wine

Don’t know why but Croque Monsieur comes to mind when I think of French Cuisine. I blame Delifrance for this :D

So naturally that meal alone wasn’t  so filling (but it was damn good though) so off we went to a different cafe for some DESSERT and more importantly MACARONS! No one does macarons better than the French (though I think the macs in T Forty Two in Bangsar Village comes close to comfort)

Macarons are crazy pricey here, around 2.99 Euros each. Had it with a side of thick hot chocolate and chocolate crepes. Unleashing the chocolate monster in me….

OH YES – Ms Mrs Greedy actually looks sick from all that chocolate :D

Jumped on the Hop On  Hop Off bus for our next destination:

The view from the top of the bus

Was telling the hubby how Sairah would have LOVED the carousel. Next year baby girl, next year!

Pervert taking a peek under her skirt, lol

Wanted someone to take a photo of us but everyone was MAD busy taking photos so we had to resort to this, which is quite pointless really since there’s no photo of the Eiffel Tower at the background.

Oooh laaa laaa super cute Frenchie walking by (hmpf totally a myth, only saw ONE HOT french guy in the Metro – look like he was out from some GQ magazine, the rest of em were pretty meeh. Where did all the hotties go?!)

Ps: I still think of that Metro dude, if he were a fudge, I’d bite into him slowly and savour every sweet moment of it, LOL

One last look of the tower with a very unflattering photo of the tired hubby before we make our way to another location.

More updates to come because my stubby fingers can only type and upload so much :D

Longchamp Haul

Longchamp Haul

Hear ye hear ye, I come bearing a blog update on my recent bag purchases :D

I’ve never really been a fan of Longchamp. But I hear they make durable bags when travelling or when you have too much junk in there to carry. Infact I’m not really sure if I am overly-crazy about them but these buggers were the cheaper bags one could afford there. I went with hopes of getting perhaps another LV bag but couldn’t find it in me to splurge so much so I did the next best thing.

I spent 30 minutes lining up just to get in to the Longchamp store. Meanwhile I feasted my eyes on some women walking around in their Channel/Gucci/LV paper bag watching them glee with excitment over their new purchase and secretly cursed that the tax return lines would be SO long that they wouldn’t actually get it ‘cheaper’  :)  Then I spent another 30 minutes braving the crowd at the store to get what I want as many designs and colors were already out of stock. Blast it you summer sale!

Finally, I settled with these babies,  you could say I didn’t have a choice but to settle with them for they were the only ones left calling out a new home.

The blue one is BabySister’s order :)

This sling bag I got from H&M because I”m starting to think every girl needs a sling bag when on a holiday!

My fav bag among all three?

This.

For it surely serves as a reminder and commemorates my trip.  And perhaps it was just meant to be mine for it was the last piece available :D

More updates and LOTS of photos to come of course, I just need to sort out the 800 junk mail on my personal inbox and 87 work emails first.

Toodles and please do check back ;)

Even My Blog Title Needs Some Rest

Even My Blog Title Needs Some Rest

Right, so it’s been about 1.5 weeks since I started a new adventure – operation shed-em-fats and yes, I’m still very much fat :D  I think I’ve lost about 1-2 kgs to date, can’t precisely confirm which one coz the damn scale keeps changing its mind so……but whatever it is, my tummy is noticeably smaller and my pants aren’t that tight no more so I must be doing something right :) That or I’m slightly deluded which could probably be more precise.

My breakfast comprises of a slice of bread with tea (not much of a breakie person anyway mate), lunch would be cereal or soup and dinner would be eggs or if my mom cooks and soooo insist I eat, then I’ll eat the goodies without rice. Diet on weekends is a bit of a toughie so :D  I am only human. Sometimes I steal a few bites of chocolate and fried stuff. I am weak.

Then last Thursday the husband decided we should have a little lunch date so I decided to use up my voucher for Opus Bistro which I purchased from Milkadeal.

The restaurant was pretty fancy, small and quaint - perfect for lil dates esp since it’s located at the quiet part of Bangsar. No parking woes for sure.

For RM25 per person you get a main course and a glass of wine each, worth it much? WHY YES! And please excuse his hair, forced him to get a hair cut the next day :)

To avoid looking that cheap, we ordered an appetizer called Arcini – basically fried cheese with a nice tomato dip. It was yummy. Fattening but yummy!

My main course – the mother killer of my diet for that week – spinach raviolli with four types of cheese. It was DIVINE! But I stopped myself from licking the plate clean *pats mah back*

The husband decided to go all out (coz you’re allowed to choose any pasta dish save for two of the more expensive ones) and he ordered their signature dish – seafood pasta. It definitely had a very seafood taste and smell to it which made me gag as I’m not much into seafood – can’t you tell?!

Nevertheless he was a happy bunny and I love this place. Without the voucher, I think the bill would have come a little more than RM100, but I believed we saved about RM40-50 or so. Which can buy us a bag of Sairah’s diaper, lol.

We still have lots of vouchers to go. My husband has coined a term for me, he calls me the voucher whore, lol but I don’t care coz I believe living life within your means and budget :D No point acting all fancy like some when you’re not :D And I know some people dont think much of those who use vouchers :)

Even redeemed our Austin Chase latte deal from Groupsmore in Gardens last week. Why pay RM14 a pop when you can get it for RM6.90 I say :D

Sairah trying her luck, haha

My lil cheeky monkey :D

Redeemed my magnet voucher from I Love Discounts so now these babies sit prettily on the fridge. I’m VERY happy with this purchase – infact so happy that I actually redeemed it within the first week.

Come to think of it, should have put a photo of my former slim self to avoid opening and rummaging the fridge for food and snacks.

DAMNIT I really should have done that! Why do brilliant ideas come AFTER you’ve carried out the task, hmpf!!

A random photo coz I can’t resist this one:

Oh the outfit, the hand gesture – doesn’t get more Indian than this, lol.

Vatttt ma, vat are you talking about?!

My pretty baby who gave her mother a TOUGH time last night! Teething phase sucks.

Stole some winks while driving to work, think I’ll just go now and find a spot to sleep. Toodles!

P.s: Dont you just hate it when you can’t think of a decent title to your post !

Toxic Characteristics

11 Jul

My grandmother used to say – you can’t expect people to be the same. Why, I asked her innocently and naively (coz I was just about that) and her answer was simple – because not all 5 fingers are the same, to which I hurriedly looked at my fingers and I know you’re doing the same right about now too :)

Years on, I now understand exactly what she meant by that. In the past few years, unfortunately for me I’ve seen different types of characters and sometimes can’t comprehend how some people behave and have such traits in them.

If there’s one thing I absolutely can’t stand is when people take advantage of your good nature. I see this happening a lot, and it is true, the more nice you are to someone, the more they will sit on your head (not literally but I think if your head is strong enough to do that, who knows – they just might!), it’s like the saying – give an inch, take a yard – a term I’ve been using a lot lately given certain situation and behavior that some people have exhibited and somehow have not realized this is such a wrong thing to do.

It’s frustrating when people just EXPECT EXPECT EXPECT and TAKE TAKE TAKE without even using a single ounce of common sense or know their limit. I absolutely loathe people who IMPOSE themselves because end of the day we don’t owe anyone anything, we’re just living our lives as straight as possible and we certainly do not do these things to others so I naturally would think others would behave this way too.  We’re all adults here. But no, sadly, these traits don’t gel well with some people who basically end of the day, we’ve summed up as only caring for themselves…….hence the lack of these characteristics or basic common sense I would say :D

Not only that, they don’t even bother to reciprocate what we’ve done for them, not even a single meal of appreciation or thanks, why? Because they’ve become so accustomed to taking and expecting that they bloody take us for granted and continuously expect us to give. It is already expected of us!!

Family or friends………I don’t bloody care, I believe there’s a limit to these things. You don’t keep doing these things to people you love. Taking advantage and thinking it’s okay just because we’re family/friends is WRONG. It shows your lack of respect towards us and your selfishness at imposing at us.

Live life with balance, if you take, you must also learn to give. And even if you don’t want to give, you must realize at some point, you must LEARN how to stop taking all the time.

For all that shit done, I would think one would get it back ten folds. Cause and effect, no? Oh and then there’s also karma :D

Sometimes I think, maybe it’s my karma for dealing with such people, but then again, they will most certainly pay for their wrong doings one of these days. No wait, I can already see that one coming :D

Forget Me Not

Forget Me Not

I’ve realized there are lots of recipes that I try only once then forget about it because I”m always anxious to try new ones out. And days when I can’t be arsed to look for new recipes – I just cook dishes that I”m familiar with.

So on Sunday, I decided to try this for the second time. I previously blogged about it here. Again, I have to say this is such a wonderful recipe. It’s quick, easy and very yummy. Just marinate everything ………..

And dump it into the grill pan which we FINALLY bought from Ikea. Paid  less than RM80. But just to make sure the meat inside was really cooked, I cooked it in the oven for a few minutes. But I think the oven option is much better as it’s more healthy. Wonder why we bought the grill pan anyway then?! Now I”m thinking of getting a steamer but can’t for the life think what to make with it?

Did up the topping and served with some baked beans this time. A healthy yummy-licious dish I would say :)

The face that says it all.

Totally unrelated – past two weekends saw Shera and Azimah walk down the marriage club and possibly parenthood next year, hopefully? :D

Baby Sairah graced their wedding with her presence :) I was going to get her a cute lil baby baju kurung but couldn’t find one on time.

The groom looking very much like the dude on our dollah bill :D

The lovely couple. Her outfit was totally gorgeous with its laces. Peach is such a gorgeous color!

Then on Saturday, the reception was held at the Palace of  The Golden Horses. Sairah of course stayed at home with her grandma.

Prabin making his hillarious speech

A group photo – without the bride and groom though.

A bigger group photo. My camera is so shit, we totally need a new one asap!

They leave to Paris sometime next week for their honeymoon so let’s hope they come back with ‘happy’ news aka more friends for Sairah :D

And totally totally unrelated – I mentioned that Sairah might get chosen for a lil assignment and she was chosen for it! Unfortunately we couldn’t make it coz we just got back from Bangkok, couldn’t take leave and let’s not forget, my baby doesn’t even have a passport to begin with so we had to graciously (and sadly) decline it :(  So note to self: GET YOUR BABY’S PASSPORT SORTED asap.  In the process the husband and I were deciding if she should have her own or have it under my name. I was dead set for under my passport – coz I said it’s a brilliant thing a mother could ever do, incase the father decides to run away with the baby, besides I wouldnt want my baby travelling without her mother, so we’re pretty much stuck for life, sorry about that baby girl :)
