Golden Triangle Restaurant

29 Jun

Golden Triangle Restaurant

Oh I am SO loving this outfit on her. I went on a tank top hunt a while ago and practically stepped into every single kiddie store there is in MV but couldn’t find any. I exhausted my search on google and Ebay too but nope, no racer back tank top for a baby!! Then when we went to Perth, out of the blue I spotted this top in some obscure store when I wasn”t even looking for this! I got it for AUD6 if I’m not mistaken. SUPER happy with this buy.

The harem MC-hammer pants are from Kuantan, from a sea side stall,  believe it or not. It’s so gangsta I swear! I got 2 for a mere price of RM20. I think this is SUCH a laid back cool look. I like how the loud prints on the pants make up for the lack of designs on her plain tank top.

Hot diggity dog, this outfit is off the hook mama!

And of course, she couldn’t resist cam-whoring with her mom. My top is from Thepoplook.com by the way, you can’t see the lace deets in this photo but I just love it. Wearing it for the first time after being kept in the cupboard for a few months!

Hey you talking to me?

Oh yes you talking to me?! Baby going gangsta on herself, lol

So in keeping up with the bonus tradition, I decided to treat my family to dinner. I chose Golden Triangle Restaurant in Solaris Mont Kiara because we’ve been here a few times with Wylane and her hubby Jove last year.

Besides, I also discovered Red Card was accepted here hence an affordable dinner was most definitely in store :D

And BabySis as usual photo-bombing a photo of our lime sour plum drink. Which at RM8 per glass was just mediocre.

The food however was GOOD! And because of that, this was probably our fourth time coming here and this time I brought more back up aka the family.

Vietnamese fried rice for the little one.

Lemongrass Satay – silly BabySis tried munching on the lemongrass, lol

Pandan Chicken as requested by BabySis and this was really good – the meat was succelent and full of pandan flavor.

French beans with dried prawns and minced chicken. Mom said she’s going to try to recreate this at home so you know food is good when she wants to come up with her own copy!

Squid in spicy thai sauce – more onions than squid but still good.

And last but not least, three flavored fish which was yummy. Fish was soo flavorful and FRESH – which is my one requirement when having fish.

Sairah being a nerd :p

But not for long coz as you can see both grandpa and daddy were frowning at her, think she was bullying our maid.

Free food always equals a happy face for the husband.

LOVING this racer back tank top on her! Mission accomplished :)

Sairah’s ANTM moment

Please excuse the barney socks though, I couldn’t find anything else that was proper so she had to resort to these over-size socks which look more like leg warmers, haha.

With her ‘nursery teacher’ aka grandma

Disturbing grandpa who was busy ordering two bowls of Thap Thim Kop ( I didn’t try this but they said it’s good!). Daddy’s tum tum showing is a great testament to how good the food is here :D

Then she proceeded to disturb a couple dining at the end just because the lady was playing peekabo with her.

Overall food was GOOD and everyone commented the same. The entire food bill alone came up to RM190 and after a 50% discount, the bill came up to a mere RM95. Total that up with the drinks, rice and dessert – only RM140 for 6 and a half people, major score I say and all thanks to Redcard.  And best of all you can use it any day and time in Golden Triangle!

And ever since having this card, I’ve told the hubby one by one we shall explore all their restaurants to get these sweet discounts and as a matter of fact, we’re going to one of a Redcard restaurant tonight, shall update if the discount and food turns out blog-worthy :D

A London Musical Treat

27 Jun

A London Musical Treat

Thanks to Magnum, I received 2 blogger complimentary tickets to London Musical. It was my second time attending their musical, with the first being Magical Musical which I went during their gala opening.

This time around we decided to take Sairah because I figured she’s old enough to attend a musical and secondly, because I knew she would love anything musically related. Oh and my third reason – she’s under 2 making her entry FREE :D  *cheapskate mode ON*

It was on a Friday so I made a mad dash home to get ready and by 7.45pm we found ourselves in Sunway Pyramid. There was a car exhibition on display so naturally the husband just HAD to check it out for a while. He’s very annoying that way esp when he trolls the sales people into thinking he might be keen to buy it. After they brief him about the price and specs, he usually runs over to me and proceeds to tell me we can buy this in OZ for the fraction of the price!! Idiot or not??!

Dear fellow audience, today I’m going to tell you why you should buy a vroom vroom car.

For starters, when you drive a car, you wouldn’t have to run around aimlessly on a road. On a side note, why is that young kid on the streets alone without his parents?

You wouldn’t have to take the bus either, or is that a electric powered train? Crap, let me check my notes.

You wouldn’t have to sit on the bus/train (okay it’s starting to look like a train to me!) and put on a sour face just because the air conditioning doesn’t work.

With a car, you can be your own boss and park it whever you want like a sohai coz that’s how we Malaysians roll (btw the four shadows belong to us and my 2 cousins who met us briefly – I’m afraid we were her ONLY audience)

And that concludes why you should buy a car, okie thanks for listening to my speech! *cue standing ovation from mom, dad and both uncles*

That said, the walk into the amphitheatre was a LONG one. That would be my only complain coz by the time we reached the show we were sweating! We had a similiar experience during the other musical and I was almost regretting coming for this one.

But good thing half way through, a buggy service was provided to all patrons so they can reach the theatre even faster. If we were to walk the entire journey I reckon I would just DIE!

Though she looks a lil skeptical here, she enjoyed her ride thoroughly.

I was happy to find out our seats were pretty good – about third row in the front, hurrah! The crowd was pretty decent esp since it’s been weeks since this musical started. Baby girl couldn’t contain herself coz even she knew our seats were good too!

Har har front row you biatches, eat that!

I think the show started 15 minutes after 8pm.

My only worry was whether Sairah would sit through the show quietly, fuss free and that kid made me proud that night. She was very curious and as soon as the show started she begin to clap her hands, gave 110% attention, clapped her hands and even attempted to sing!

Since the seats next to us were rather empty she had her own seat!

And let the show begin!

A little bit of dancing…

A lil bit of clapping….

A lil bit of nose picking coz I think the love story was about to unfold and she just couldn’t contain herself!

A little bit of woot woot y’all….

And maybe the excitment stemmed from looking at the main actor in the middle who was quite the looker, ahem.

A little bit of Vitagen break…

More singing and dancing and jumping around… (that’s actually a song from BabyTV FYI)

She sat like a good girl glued to her fav cartoon for the next 1 hour 15 minutes. It was then that they decided to have a 15 minute break. By that time it was already close to 9.30 pm. The husband just HAD to take her down for a ‘walk’ he said and the next thing I knew Sairah was wrestling with him coz she wanted to go on stage, lol. Can we please scrap the break for the next musical please??!

Let me take centre stage old man, I can do this!!! I was born to be a star!

And everything just went downhill from there because now she didn’t want to sit down quietly but instead was working her way to the stage. God knows they didn’t need an extra dancer for sure, esp since all their dancers were stick thin, ahem

So we did the next best thing any parent would do, we packed up and graciously left :D  To me it was a blessing coz as we left, the guy in the buggy gave us a lift all the way back to the entrance :D We never got that service for the first musical coz it was such a mad rush when everyone left at the same time.

But overall, it was indeed a good musical to attend and I’m still proud that my girl sat through it quietly during the first half.  Well done Sairah girl!

The show is still running until 8th of July so there’s still time to catch this musical. For those keen, you may purchase your tickets on AirAsiaRedTix.com and for those who missed the cheap tickets on Groupon, well too bad hor.

So now, am most definitely looking forward to the next free musical by Magnum.

That said, I don’t remember attending any musical as a kid, esp not as a 22 month old toddler so I sure hope Sairah had a blast. Do check out the video here :) Does she look like a huge fan or what?!

ARIMINO For Your Hair

25 Jun

ARIMINO For Your Hair

Once upon a time, an Indian girl of 21 years of age found the courage to color her thick jet black mop hair brown. After selecting her desired hair color and sitting down patiently for more than 2 hours  in  an obscure salon in Kota Raya (Please don’t judge her for she was rather poor then, still is actually!) she was excitedly anticipating locks of glorious glossy brown hair.

Alas, as she took a peek in the mirror, what stared her back was a shocker for her hair was still jet black. The hairstylist was quick to defend herself and point out at ONE miserable hair strand that was brown, as opposed to the thousands that were still BLACK!

Since then that Indian girl was too afraid to color and experiment with her hair thanks to her traumatic waste-of-time-and-money experience. On a side note, she was more than happy to rebond her hair and has been doing so for the past 10 years (happy 10th anniversary my rebonded preciousss hair).

Fast forward 10 years later, that Indian girl aka me (incase you haven’t noticed it already) received a wonderful invitation from Arimino Malaysia / Cosmecurl to check out their products. They are currently the sole distributors in Malaysia with all products being flown in from Tokyo, Japan. ARIMINO was started in 1946 with its HQ based in Tokyo.

Prior to this, for the hair product junkie that I am, I was well aware of their brand coz I saw it in Cleo’s monthly issue. The pink packaging certainly caught my attention coz let’s face it, Japanese products are always known for its quirky-ness, the packaging alone have a personality of its own that could rival the husband’s, heh!! And if that’s not enough, to add on the girly effect, every product comes with a glorious scent! As someone who uses Japanese hair care and perfumes from time to time, I can swear by this and say no one does scented hair products better than the Japs. Well save next to the Filipinos.

Here are just some of the many products offered by Arimino:

Is it a rubic cube or a chocolate bar hmmm? Very classy packaging I should add.

And just look how creative they are, this is actually a 2 in one product which can be easily used on your hair AND works as a hand cream.

And if that’s not enough, they are pretty thoughtful as well. Their wax for men come in a pot shape, however for women, they have packaged it in tube form because they are aware that women love manicures and long nails hence that will not sit well if they were do dig out wax from a pot.

Products easily identified for the fairer and darker sex.

Don’t you just love it when kind thoughts are put in well into designing a product? I know I am more appreciative of this after my lesson here.

This was the full size Sherpa Repair Milk given by Jamie to fix my damaged ends. I LOVE it to bits, not only does it keeps the split ends at bay, it also infuses a glorious scent that keeps my mane smelling good all day long.

The husband on the other hand had a bottle of Caretrico airy bounce shampoo to ensure his hair remains light, moisturized and bouncy. So far, we are very impressed with both these products!

Now we move on to the interesting part. Jamie, who was our technician proceeded to give us a hair makeover, not before diagnosing our hair first.

After answering her questions, she finally concluded that my hair was rather dry at the bottom with split ends which is true due to everyday usage of the hair dryer and iron. She gave me the option of either having my hair rebonded (which I was so tempted to take up I should add since I last did it 3 months ago) or highlights. But since I wanted to put their products to the test , like a guinea pig I bravely accepted the latter just to see if the color would show up on my Indian hair. At this point Jamie was quick to tell me that there is no such thing as Indian hair, only Asian hair which Arimino caters to perfectly!

See, Arimino cares for Asian hair yo.

Then I asked if my hair had to be bleached (coz I can tell you the amount of times stylist have told me my hair needs to do that if I ever want to get color into it since its so black) and she said no! With Arimino color, you don’t have to, they reassured me the color would show up because that is the basis of a high quality product. Period. After agreeing on a color (she wanted me to consider orange/red tones but I was too chicken for that hence we agreed to a natural brown shade), I was told that Arimino carries 60 mind blowing colors! And this can go up to 100 since the colors are mixable to create a unique shade just for you.

Decisions decisions….

At this point I just sat back and relaxed and was anxious to see if the color would show up to say hello.  As I got my highlights done, I noticed a distinctive girly rose smell. Which to me was a HUGE plus point since hair color, heck even rebonding chemicals are usually foul smelling and can last up to days on your hair. Again, according to the stylist who was working on my hair, he said that’s the beauty of Arimino!

And a round and round we go….

So while I was waiting for my highlights to show up (and convince me Arimino is da bomb!), the husband was treated to a scalp treatment meant for dry hair.

This is also their soon to be launched line called Bamboo.

After a good head/scalp massage and a quick blow dry, someone started becoming major vain, and I mean MAJOR vain.

Check out the self-taken photos.

Call me MR Vain

Oh I feel fabulous!

His hair was relatively full of life (for once!) and more bouncy.

After a while, my technician proceeded to slowly take out the foils on my head. At this point I could see some color to it but I was still very anxious to see the end results.

After a quick wash and blow……………

This is a before photo for comparison sake:

I just had to include a photo of my new bag, ahem :)

And then THIS: my heart skipped a beat because this was EXACTLY the type of color and highlights I’ve been wanting for the LONGEST time ever. And this was made possible by Arimino! No bleaching, no harsh chemicals, just pure rich color that turned up beautifully on my Indian Asian black hair. Tell me what you think!

Check out how full and vibrant my hair looks now. So much dimensions to it I reckon.

Side view, the colors are more vibrant in the front

Now please excuse the barrage of vain photos, you know I hardly do this on my blog :D But this time it’s for a good cause :D

Check out my healthy ends.

And this was 2 days later, gorgeous natural highlights, SUPER LOVE (any guesses where we are?)

So what do you think? I absolutely love my hair and can’t thank Arimino Malaysia enough! I am indeed officially an Arimino convert. Right now am itching to try out their rebonding because it’s apparently more gentle on Asian hair and gives your hair natural volume!

You can check out their official website here and keep yourself updated with Arimino Malaysia on their latest products/offerings by joining their Facebook page here

There are many salons using ARIMINO products around Malaysia, and if you’re keen to know where you can get your hair treated the Asian way with Arimino, just go ahead and email me, will be more than happy to share these salons.

Once again, my highlights and I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Arimino Malaysia for this awesome hair makeover.

21 Months And Beyond

21 Months And Beyond

On a side note: Blog has been wonky past 2 days coz of some hosting issues, but it’s up and running now, hurrah!

I’ve been dressing my baby in leggings recently for a while now. What’s not to love about leggings – it’s just about the most comfiest pants EVER! Topped with a long tunic and you have the perfect lazy holiday/Sunday outfit – that also masks big tummies perfectly :D And for my case, bum too! :p

Asymmetrical top! For a kid! Now I never knew that existed until I saw this in Target in Perth and it was love at first sight. Perfectly unbalanced at the sides, long enough to be worn over leggings, or on its own, it is also great at masking the little one’s tabla aka tum tums after a hearty carb meal (in this case it was fried rice at Kim Gary’s!). I also got it because of the cool dog print with shades on it.

Sunday outfit (actually this was 2 Sunday’s ago)

I”m also loving this 20 months and over age now. As a baby, Sairah wasn’t the easiest baby to manage with her constant restless-ness and fussiness but now, it’s safe to say that she is MUCH more manageable now that she understand things a whole lot better. Just a month ago my mom was saying how much Sairah has grown up and I couldn’t agree more! She certainly can express herself (occasionally she goes off tangent and cries so I ask her to TELL mommy what you want instead of crying away and it works) so it’s easier for us to do a lot of things like hang out longer in the mall or attend to errands with baby in tow.  This week we’ll be attending her first musical together *fingers crossed* she will be well behaved and enjoys herself!

Finally after months, she has taken well to her baby car seat, now sitting throughout the entire journey without fussing. We used to have major problems with this because she hated her car seat with a vengeance. Now she sees the car seat as a good boost to see the outside world as the car whizzes by a car, truck, bus aka tayo and even a waterfall near the apt.

For the first time ever a week ago, she let me CUT her hair!! I asked her if I could cut her fringe and she agreed that it was time for a hair cut coz she said ‘hair poke eye’. So I took out the scissors and told her mommy will just snip a lil so you’ll look pretty, to further appeal to her vain side :D  As I snip bits of her fringe and gave the hair to my maid standing next to me, missy peered over to see exactly how much I had cut, lol, talk about being vain!! For each snip, she just HAD to see how much hair was taken off. All this and not a single sound from her. After the hair cut was over, she looked over at the mirror and said ‘pretttyy’ – how much girly and vain can she get?! This impressed me to no end because I remember how she embarrassed us during her hair cut in A Cut Above just months ago.

And now she lets me tie her hair, although it has to be a quick one!! Before this she would NEVER let me go near the hair let alone tie it. The hair clip still comes off after 5 minutes max but I say its progress nevertheless. Whatever happened to my baby who used to love her headbands hmm?!

If I could freeze time my baby as a 21 month year old, I SO WOULD!

I also managed to squeeze in a pedicure recently while out with Sairah. Imagine that!! We had lunch,  walked around for a bit then I spotted a pedicure salon and was absolutely itching to get my toes pretty again! Will baby be her bestest behaviour with her dad  and wait for an hour quietly? Well of course, coz there was a moo cow outlet nearby so daddy and baby spent some time bonding with each other over a cuppa delicious yogurt. She even made a big poo and he cleaned her up all by himself! Am I lucky or what? :)

After a while, right as I was about to finish, they both came over to see me and she was the perfect lil girl sitting on her daddy’s lap on the sofa with a book in hand while mom finished off her pedicure….occasionally she ran up to me just to  say ‘hi mommieeee’ (she randomly does that all the time and it melts my heart when she does!) while pointing at my toes before she saying ‘blue kaleeeerr’ and running of to her dad.

Bliss. And I dare say I even got my eyebrows threaded with her around after my pedicure. She kept peering over and said ‘mommy eye makeup’, lol, not knowing the true extent of it  - well technically she is right because threading my eyebrows makes my eyes look better so it’s like a mini eye ‘makeup’ for me :p

For being a good patient troop,  we got her these books that we spotted at the book fair, 3 solid hard cover books and a Disney Princess colouring pad all for a mere RM90! A steal I reckon.. While we love buying books at a discounted price, we will never sting when it comes to that because I really do believe we’re finally reaping what we’ve sown.

Just a few days ago, I read her 2 bed time stories and in return asked her to read mommie a story. She flips through a page (and mind you, this book is the thick type!) and then goes ‘tiny tiny, where are youuuuu’. I did a double flip because this was one of the stories I had read to her a while back. I couldn’t remember it myself at first and was wondering what the heck was she on babbling about when I saw the title of the story and true enough, it was TINY, WHERE ARE YOU!! I was sooo amazed that she remembered it so well, more so finding that exact page, that I just had to yell for the husband who was watching tv in the living room to come see.

I should randomly add that without her leggings, this is still a cute lil t-shirt dress on her :)

Gotta admit, baby girl is fast growing into a fine lil thing if I may say so myself :) *sheds happy mommy tears*

Now if only I could freeze time.

Kizsports & Gym

14 Jun

Kizsports & Gym

One of the things that I LOVE to do on a Monday morning to beat the Monday blues is to sit and plan out the impending weekend on my diary! That seriously makes the week bearable coz at least there’s something to look forward to at the end of the week. Sure some might call it being plain OCD/being life-less , I call it ‘productivity’ at some point :p

And with a toddler in tow, sometimes it’s best to map out where you intend to go and where you plan on eating coz its way easier than winging it. No more living life on the edge and spontaneously for us obviously since someone’s arrival, hah.

And because of my power planning our weekends are jam packed with things to do.

Anyway, on Saturday I decided to take the little one to Kizsports in Bangsar Village. I’ve been trying to find the perfect kids sports /play area for a while now. One that will not cost an arm and a leg or force you to sign up upfront. We took her to MV the other day and while the website said kids 2 and below are welcomed, we didn’t find ANY sort of play area decent enough for her. And coz of that we left MV within 10 minutes.

That’s when I remembered Kizsports (no idea why they sucked the D out of KIDZ) in Bangsar Village (they have other outlets too) coz we’ve passed by it many times. So off we went  mid-morning  (back in the day I would have been STILL sleeping but look at me now, all up and about at such an ungodly hour, ahem) for Sairah to play.

Entrance free is RM12 for children below 2 and they have a comfy size area for the little ones to go wild. Play time is unlimited of course, though we stayed only for 45 minutes. My only gripe was how some big buffaloes were playing in that area despite the sign 2 years and below. Can I blame them for wanting to be 2? Well no coz sometimes I wish I was that age too! Coz you get to sleep, cry, eat, throw tantrums, cry, poo ANYWHERE and ANYTIME you wish and still be labelled CUTE! Try doing that as an adult and see what happens!

Below are some photos of Sairah enjoying herself. I dressed her up in a simple black loose tee which I bought from Kuching (the cat design on it does very much look like a Baby Phat symbol doesn’t it?) and pink shorts for maximum comfort running around.

She seemed attracted to the slide that leads into a pool of balls. She plopped herself there for the longest time refusing to budge.

Oh just chillin

Soon there were more kids there and she had that ‘let me in look NOW’ Hands already up before the father can even lift her, hehe.

Don’t let this photo fool you, there were tons of kids around.

I like this photo coz you can see some parents running after their kids! This place allows 2 parents in for free, so long you have socks. Kids and adults MUST have socks here. I just sat on their sofa seat taking photos since I forgot mine :D  It was unintentional, honest!

Baby girl enjoyed the other ball-less slide too :)

And most definitely had a soft spot for the tunnel – her first time!

I wonder where that tunnel leads to….a Moo Cow outlet perhaps? :D

Almost there!

Phew, made it out ALIVE! YES! I reckon Baby Girl will pass the Cu Chi tunnel tour!

45 minutes well spent I say.

And for the best part – I love how this completely tired her out! She was already cranky during lunch time and knocked out in the car by 2pm!! Her bed time is usually around 3.30-4pm mind you. So perhaps the next time we take her, it will be after lunch or better still in the evening so a quiet still night would be most certainly guaranteed :D

If you have any other go-to play gym/centers that you swear by, do share, coz we’re on a mission to check em all out!
