Yummy In Our Tummy

Yummy In Our Tummy

Wooo we’ve been dining out alot for the past 2 weekends! I had purchased all these vouchers on various group discount sites (but of course) so it was time to finally redeem it because the husband was nagging the shit out of  me like a lil bitch about the vouchers piling up in my car! Yup am so efficient coz I print my vouchers out almost immediately and leave them in my car so we can use it whenever :D

Plus seriously – I am addicted to these sites. First thing I do in the morning every single freaking day without fail  is to quickly check these sites out to see what sort of bargains I can get my hands on. I usually stick to food deals more than anything else…….but of course!

We all know dining out in KL is not exactly cheap. We’re looking at minimum RM50 for two if you go to a normal restaurant. I can never fathom why drinks are so pricey here too. Anyhos, if one can get them cheaper, let’s say at the fraction of the price, why not eh?

So yea, here we are at Blue Cow Cafe in Plaza Damas. I usually look out for deals for area/places that we frequent alot and got this voucher from Mydeal.

Pumpkin soup – now this was really rich and so good! Not much of a pumpkin fan (though I may look like one myself!) but this was seriously tasty.

Chicken pie with fries and coleslaw – gotta admit, the filling on this one was generously packed and so worth every discounted cent I paid. It also came with a drink making it a full course. Mydeal, please bring this deal back again, please…

Moooo blue cowwww.

Discounted Price: RM10.90 EACH instead of RM24. So that’s RM26.2 in total savings :D Woot!

Then for Mother’s day, I had earlier purchased a 4 course chinese dinner voucher from Groupon that was inclusive of fish, pork (for mom of course), bean curd and vegetable for a mere RM50. Imagine feeding 5 mouths for a mere RM50 for chinese food. What a steal. This was in D’Tau Heritage Food Village in B’fields. It was on second time there (the first time dad actually bought a 8 course meal voucher on Groupon – HAH, can you imagine a retired grandpa buying discounted vouchers??!) Now he’s actually subscribed to these newsletters too.

No complains as the food was GOOD esp the fish, super fresh.

Discounted price: RM50 instead of RM99. That’s RM49 in savings! God knows how they even make a profit on this one coz fish is expensive.

Sairah of course had her usual fried rice

Mmmm riceeeee! Champion food for Asian babies.

All set for voucher redemption in Ristretto Mont Kiara yo!

Wearing the outfit Daddy got her coz we were just heading for lunch and grocery shopping.

Somebody’s in a sticker mode

Stick stick stick…

Hah, things her dad allows her to do to him!

This wasn’t included in our deal but what I can say is coffee here is REALLY impressive.

Absolutely the best mocha I”ve had in KL, even Sairah got taken up by it (I”m guessing she saw the ice cream floating on top of it) I would come back here again and again for the coffee.

My chicken chop – loved the sauce that it came with and even a small side of salad was yummeh.

Sairah and hubby’s coriander infused chicken rice. It’s suppose to be a Peruvian dish. I wouldnt know coz I have not been to Peru (although it’s on my list, hmpf!) The rice was absolutely flavorful and was a hit with Sairah. Little Miss Greedy got upset when the waiter wanted to take away her plate after she was done, lol.

Discounted price: RM25.80 instead of RM58. That’s RM33 in savings.

Saying bye to the guards, she’s always super friendly to them.

Just a photo of super TALL buildings in Mont Kiara. Oh and my hair looks so shiny here. I”ve since cut my hair shorter and looking at these photos make me miss my long one-length hair :(

Next up, for Mother’s day, we were all set to redeem another voucher at Palate Palette. I like how some vouchers can be used even on special ocassions or on a public holiday. This was my second time here, you can read about my first visit here in 2008, geez it’s been THAT long.

LOVE this outfit on her, her top is from BBluvsme while the jeggings are from Jusco, only paid RM11 for it!

Vain baby is vain

Mommy-baby shot before we head out for Mother’s Day lunch that I paid for :D

Interesting wall art

The deal came with yet another pumpkin soup. Is pumpkin soup cheap to make or what?!

Daddy’s beer which he paid on his own of course. I had the Iced Toffee Nut Coffee (not pictured) and it was rather strong for me. Swear I felt a lil sick after that.

My chicken bolognese pasta which was pretty so-so. I swear I make em better :D

Hubby’s Asparagus and Smoked Chicken pasta which he claims was bland.

Not sure if this deal was absolutely worth it but what the heck…..we got to dine in Changkat BB cheaply :D

Got this on Groupon. Discounted Price: RM29 instead of RM100, that’s RM71 in savings

Typical Malaysian taking away the free magazine.

After lunch we headed off to Dr Cafe in The Strand. It’s officially my favorite coffee place. The ice blended mocha is absolutely lovely. This of course wasn’t part of any voucher form…..we paid full price :D And even then the stingy husband was complaining how expensive it is. Chettiars!

My pretty tired baby all asleep and safe in momma’s arms. Also made my coffee break a good one :D

Just wanna show off her lovely lashes :D

So yea, only a part of my vouchers redeemed! We still have a few more to go. If you haven’t really jumped onto this group discount band wagon yet, I highly suggest you do. Imagine the savings you make by not paying full price, you could go shopping with that :D Or buy diapers and baby milk :D Plus who needs to cook all the time when you purchase these babies :D

You can check out my favorite site here that consolidates most of the group discount site deals. Enjoy!

Poserism 101 With Little Miss Sairah

15 May

Poserism 101 With Little Miss Sairah

Sairah is what I”d like to call in a Parrot stage where she likes to mimic or say whatever you’re saying/doing. The other day I accidentally said shit and she proceeded to say shit! Thank God she has since forgotten that word.

Anything and everything that mom or dad touches, she wants to touch and hold too. Sometimes it’s hard to drink a cup of coffee coz she wants to taste that as well. Now there are three things that child always sees me do on a regular basis:-

1) Put on makeup – this came about because she always wants to be in the room with me when I get ready so now if you ask her how to put on lipstick, she will use her index finger and rub her lips, same goes with eyeshadow and blusher. She knows how to say “mommy makeup’ when she sees me get ready before our outing. She knows how to mimic mommy washing and blow drying her hair too!

2) Use my laptop, like so! She looks like a little programmer working on her father’s laptop. While he looks like a ttoal noob seeking some sort help from her, lol :D She tends to click alot of buttons prompting all kinds of pop up which we never knew existed!!

Want me to hack into mom’s email? No worries old man, am working on it…I”m almost in

3) Take photographs using my camera – by now Sairah knows what a camera looks like and what’s it for. So on Saturday, we were just lying on the bed as I went through photos I had already taken on my camera when she grabbed the camera from my hand. Because the screen on my camera is flippable (if there’s such a word), I flipped it around her and these are the photos of herself that she took, at 1 day shy of turning 20 months!!

I iz gonna show you that ugly Dora top that old man bought from Manila – HATE IT! Somebody call the fashion police and arrest my dad, please.

Gonna take half my face

And focus on my nose and eyes now…

Ah there, managed to get my entire face in, but wait my forehead is missing

Ah better!

Then she slowly learnt how to click down the button slowly, which would capture photos slowly so she could pose with both hands free. Btw of course I was holding that heavy camera all along……..she only proceeded to click the button – which is a very good feat considering she’s not even 2!

Look – NO HANDS!

What up Ma???!

Naughty face

Angry face – somebody gonna get hurt realll bad! YES we did go for Russell Peter’s comedy show and itwas DA BOMB!!

I’m sexy  a cutie and I know it face :D Now gimme all your milk babyyy!

Bah mom I’m tired from all that self-taken shots. Poserism ain’t an easy task…

Or is it now, okay one last pose for mom…..coz I”m a poser and I know ittt…

Don’t ask, this is  a very weird mommy-daddy-baby bonding session. Obviously my bum is big enough for 1 1/2 heads to sleep on. Its comfy they say. Oh well.

But who knew a child of 19 months could be so vain as to take her own photos :D Maybe this could be very well be one of her many other interest – self photography.

Penne Ala Vodka

14 May

Penne Ala Vodka

Out of all the places we ate in Perth, the one restaurant that really stood out was this simple Italian restaurant owned by an Italian who migrated to Perth. I still think of that pasta dish till today because it is in every essence the BEST pasta I’ve eaten in my entire life. That speaks volume.

Sadly I do not remember that name of the restaurant, however I do know where it’s located – that’s more important and we’ll be regular customers of that place one day I”m sure :D

I should add most restaurants here are old looking, like as though they’re still stuck in the 80s for some strange reason.

I remember glancing through the menu and didn’t know which pasta to order coz most of it had either pork or beef which I both don’t eat. Sauces are pre-made so there is no option of changing it to chicken. I also had to make sure it was tomato sauce based since I was going to share it with Sairah. So the owner, this BIG fat dude who looked like he was at least 7 months preggie suggested I try the Penne Ala vodka.

But there’s vodka in there and I’m sharing this with my daughter I said.

He gave out this big laugh and said surely the little vodka used to make the sauce would not make a huge impact on the little one or cause her to sway around like a drunk lil sailor. He actually proceeded to tell us how it’s cooked which I thought was very generous of him because most restaurateurs don’t really share their recipe.

Guess it’s no biggie coz my pea brain didn’t remember half the things he said so I resorted to googling this recipe instead.

Btw he is right, toddlers CAN eat vodka sauce as the alcohol evaporates at boiling point.

But yea, fat dude was right! She didn’t get drunk, she only made a BIG poo after lunch was over coz food was that RICH and bloody good. To her defense, have you had a meal so full that you just had to go after that? You’d be lying if you said no :D

Hubby scrapping off what’s left of our food because we finished them allllll, baby included!

So attempting to mimic the same recipe, here’s the recipe:

Cook penne in a pot. In a pan, saute 6 clove chopped garlic and 1 medium sized chopped onion in 2 tablespoon butter with some olive oil until soft. Pour in a shot of vodka – to avoid an open flame, move the pan away from the fire, add in the vodka and then return to the fire and cook for 2 minutes until vodka is reduced. Pour in one big can of tomato sauce (I used Hunts) followed by one box of thickened/heavy cream. Sprinkle some red pepper flakes, pepper, salt and some sugar to taste. Pour in half a packet of parmesan cheese and let it simmer until sauce is thickened. I added in some cooked black pepper chicken too!

Throw in the penne in the sauce pot and wala – easy peasy tasty pasta ala vodka is READY! I would say this recipe is 70% there which isn’t bad in my books if you ask me  Must return to make friends with said fat chef and LISTEN well to his recipe the next time around :D

You may sprinkle more red pepper flakes if you’re Indian :D If you can get hold of fresh basil add that into the pot almost at the end.

Yummy in my Yindian tummy….

And  I hope y’all had a good Mother’s Day treat yesterday. Mine was spent redeeming a lunch voucher meal which I bought in the first place (what to do, hubby keeps getting cheaper by the day, heh), followed by a short mall trip where we got the little one this fun art piece. I made this pasta dish for dinner so I cooked my own Mother’s Day dinner, hah.

Scribble scribble….Imma little artist

So much intensity over her art work.

Despite telling her to hold the ORANGE pen to color the tiger, she kept going for various colors. After a while I gave up and thought why not? Why must a tiger be orange? Lets have our imaginations run wild shall we…..and not conform to what the world perceives as right for just a littleee while.

So this is how a tiger looks in Sairah’s world – a mixture of pink, blue, green, orange – all colors she can actually pronounce.

So damn proud of her colored tiger :D And you know what, I am too! This definitely goes onto our fridge!

A Stroll Down Wedding Lane

11 May

Lame title – I KNOW!

I received a few emails some time back asking how come my wedding post were private. To be honest, I don’t know myself :D And there aren’t that many photos on FB for some reason, guess I forgot to upload them since I did join FB much later after getting married. By then the excitment had already died off, lol.

Contrary to what one might assume, we did infact have a wedding and the whole works. Mine wasn’t a shot-gun wedding for sure, ahem.

It was definitely an eye opener to alot of things. It showed my parent’s love for me and the lengths they would go just to see their daughter married, it also showed some ugly side from certain people, it made me question whether it was worth going through all this just for that someone but I guess after all that, everything was worth it coz now I’m stuck with with a certain Baby S for life! And as of yesterday she has self-proclaimed herself as PRINCESS Sairah after watching Princess Barbie Charm School, le sigh.

Anyhos, before I digress any further, take this as a bonus post round for those who earlier missed this coz there are not one, but THREE lenghty long winded post to read for this cheerful Friday, lol.

Read about my Engagment here

Read about my Wedding here

Read bout my Reception here

Feel free to comment here of course :D I was soo slim back then, double le sigh.

Happy weekend y’all, mine’s gonna be a food-filled one.

The Little Naughty Helper

9 May

The Little Naughty Helper

I moved back to my parent’s house last week for 7 days.

I’m still with my husband incase you’re wondering :D He actually went to Philippines for a Project Management course coz somebody wants to be a certified PMS. Whatever.

On Saturday as he packed his suitcase, the little one felt like she needed to help her old man out. Except she did more messing around than packing.

Will start helping after I”m done admiring myself :D Oh the vanity.

Oo I think daddy should pack that, whatever that is.

Excuse the mismatched outfit, contrary to popular belief this child is dressed is ugly-mismatched-yet-comfy-house-clothes when at home :D Only in asia the term ‘house clothes’ exist, lol.

She managed to get her tiny hands on his underwear and decided to make it her prop. This one is a little comedian I swear. She proceeded to entertain her father and I by getting up to such mischief.

Har har, look ma I’m like a mini mr bean! Btw we’ve been watching reruns of Mr Bean  and guess who likes watching it?

Mama mia I feel fabolous dahling.

Check out her little rice belly :D

Don’t worry – husband’s underwear is certified clean. I really would like to think so!

And then of course whenever she’s in her grandmother’s house she’s at her naughtiest!! So I’ve proclaimed my parents place as House of Naughty coz we have a silky terrier who is also equally naughty.

Bum-itchy-must-take-off-diaper….who needs diapers when I can go commando!

My mom handed her a clean panty and she proceeded to put it on her head, again! Head covered, I look Jamaican, no?!

This is her cheeky monkey face. She puts on this face whenever she’s in a cheeky playful mode.

Although blur, I really love this photo of her. She was dancing to one of the songs on American Idol and this photo just depicts how happy a child can be just by doing a simple act of dancing.

Do check out these videos here and here. Managed to capture them while she danced.  The hand rolling motion is TOO CUTE.

BabySis might not be too pleased with this photo…..but this is what she does when super naughty. Lie in the basket of fresh laundry and go through her aunty’s bras, tee hee.

Har har I think the leopard print bra is sooo last season dahling.

As for what the hubby got us from Phillipines? As usual, tons of shampoos and conditioner for wifey and 5 2-piece clothes for the little one. Unfortunately only the 2 barbie items were super cute

And these were the other 3 sets he got which looked more like house clothes! I can’t imagine baby girl going to the mall in this.

She doesn’t even like dora!!

Or Tweety and Pooh! Why are they so LOUD?? Think I”ll just let her wear it when she goes for a walk or something!

Of all the frekaing nice clothes they have there…….it’s officially he shall not be allowed to pick her clothes EVERRR! Well unless it’s by Barbie coz they have the cutest collection in Manila and it’s super cheap! Maybe we should make a trip there early next year to stock up her clothes or someting.
