Mummy’s Little Book Worm

28 May

Sairah has a new dress to add to her wardrobe collection thanks to my Uncle who got it from Pumpkin Patch in Sydney. I”ve since stopped buying her dresses and have moved on to 2 piece due to its comfort for an active toddler. So of course it’s nice to receive dresses once in a while. He paid AUD45 for this and I have to say, it’s just gorgeous…….not something I would pick out on my own since I steer clear  away from whites (have you tried feeding a toddler who doesn’t like putting her bib on anymore? White outfits can be a nightmare no matter how good they may look!).

Her daddy trying to give out his ‘I”m so cute’ look but I think it’s a rather creepy photo, lol

Starting to love restaurants who provide color pencils and colouring pad for restless toddlers.  Ever since she started feeding herself, dining out is more bearable since she can sit quietly on her high chair so long she’s feeding herself or has something to do on the table, like so – baby got mad skills yo using 2 hands to color. Wonder if she’s ambidextrouss since she uses both her right and left hand to scribble from time to time, time will tell.

Oh do check out her angry face video here that I mentioned once before.  She obviously learnt it WELL from her mother, ahem, except I dont look half as cute like her with that face on - I just look plain possessed, lol. But what to do, that’s a look  that works best with her father coz you know men - you can never ask them nicely to get things done.

But yea, just see how gorgeous this dress is! You can tell good taste when it comes to kiddie clothes run in our blood :D

She looks sooo mature like a little lady in this one. I first thought it might be a bit too formal for a mall wear but then again, the minute we put this on her, she kept saying ooooo nice (which is instant victory to us coz there are days she refuses to wear anything and actually wants to walk around NAKED!) so I just paired it with her sandals and off we went. Note to self: buy your child some formal shoes!

She was smart enough to say ‘Uncle buy this baju’ when we asked her who got her that dress :D She usually would always  say mommy-daddy when asked who got her that dress/toy and that kid being the little politician that she is knows better to mention both our names as to not offend any one of us, just incase :)

Then we went to her second favorite spot in the mall AFTER passing by her first favorite which really takes no guesses here.

I like how the children’s section is right at the end in Borders. Every time we go she’s close to the only child in that area so that gives her alot of time and space to browse through the books.

In the end, it was two Barbie book that captured her heart. I forgot to take a photo but one of her Barbie actually followed us on this mall trip :)

I really adore these photos of her sitting on the table looking at these books. The book-aholic in this one is strong! Just yesterday she pulled up her story book for me to read…..I read one story, she asked for more, then I read another one and another until my throat couldn’t take it anymore. It was then when she cried and literally threw a fit coz I had stopped reading to her. LOL. Note to self, gotta download some reading app on the Ipad as my backup.

I love how colorful these books are adding such vibrancy to the photo

Do check out these two videos here and here coz it shows you how much she enjoys her books.

Ok daddie, I want these two, let’s go settle the bill NOW old man.

We were passing by LV when she stopped by their display window, asked her dad to carry her so she could have a closer look at the sunglasses…….that’s when she said, oooo nice, GIMME!

You can see how the father is lauging his head off coz there is no doubt, absolutely NO DOUBT that kid is starting to remind him alot of someone and that someone would most definitely be me :D

That’s my baby girl right there!

Hehe. Sairah is starting to pick up on expensive goodies eh? hehe. So cute! Love how she’s such a book child, something I never was when I was young. Whenever I step into bookstores even till this day, I could feel half of my soul ripped off from me… Yeah… that’s how much aversion I have on anything book related. =P

Oh coowl! She’s started speaking in full sentences. Really awesome! I just got off the phone with my mom and nephew just now, she’s managed to convinced my nephie to say “Good boy”, but not first promising to take him out of the playpen first. lol. After the deed he just couldn’t be bothered.

Hahaha well hopefully not, she just loves her sunglasses :) She’s quite the book worm this one. LOL oh come on, surely it’s not that bad, there are some really good novels to read you know, you just have to learn how to pick the good ones up :p

Yup, she is, her vocab keeps improving day by day and she’s a fast learner. LOL that’s good though, good boy! you always have to keep teaching and drilling those words into their head in the first stage. Eventually they will pick up on it REAL quick, showing and reading to them helps ALOT. You’ll also have to REALLY watch what you say incase they pick up the bad words, haha.

Lol! Yeah that’s why I told my mom about being careful what she says in front of him.

Just now she keeps asking him to repeat Good boy on the phone, but he being a stubborn kid he would just utter some other baby words like dada and bla bla…

Then my mom would jokingly retort in hokkien “dada kacui la” Kacui means buttocks in Hokkien.

Then I would go… Oiii! Watch out what you say in front of him. lol. Don’t want him to repeat that word to his parents when they get home from work.

LOL can you imagine the horror on his parents face if he were to say that word in front of them? Would be epic, hehehe. But ya, ask your mom to drill those words by repeating it often and by the time you know it he’ll be speaking to you in sentences and hopefully Kacui will not be his favorite go-to word, hahaha. Two syllable words are toddlers favorite words coz its easy to catch on :p

OK advise needed — how do u deal wt restaurants that give those wooden highchairs that dont have any tray on top? Do u pull her right up to the table?
Cos we had that prob in Italiannies (last weekend) and TGIF (last Sunday). If he comes all the way to the table then he starts to reach for my plate, the water cup etc etc… I brought my own crayons and book (cos the last time in Chilli’s they only gave ONE crayon! Black colour some more!), and after colouring awhile the crayon landed on my plate :-(
He gets restless after some time. And these kinda places we eat for at least 30 mins. Cant chomp down faster than that!

Being a sibuk here.. I do use the highchairs in the restaurants but of course i scrub the chairs with my wipes before I place my princess on the chair.. Even then I am afraid it may be tooo dirty.. am I being too paranoid?

      • D 30. May, 2012 at 12:18 pm #

Nope! We wipe them also wt wet wipes…. Sometimes i forget (esp if the wooden ones and u cant see the dirt), but best to wipe.. And after we leave, if i remember i wipe his hands wt the wet wipes also :-)

        • TheMissusBlogs 30. May, 2012 at 1:19 pm #

No, you’re not being paranoid. Coz HFMD is on the rampage and god knows which kid put their hands in the mouth and rub their saliva all over if he/she has it. So always wipe it with wet wipes (okay I am guilty sometimes of not doing it if the chair is clean looking) and clean their hands after they are done. I usually wash her hands.

    • TheMissusBlogs 30. May, 2012 at 1:15 pm #

Hey, I hate those type of chairs, but yes I pull her right near the table and let her do some colouring. Of course she’ll attempt to pull the plates or whatever that is near here so we have to move that away. LOL I hope there wasn’t much food left on that plate. Maybe you can bring some of his favorite toys (okay maybe not a ball) that he can keep himself busy with? Usually coloring books work for Sairah and recently she wants to lug around her barbie. You can try sticker books, activity books and that kiddie ipad thingy I was telling you about from Jusco.

Btw really thought places like Chilli would give a whole lot of crayon instead of just one miserable one? Poor boy, was probably tired of that color that’s why!!

    • TheMissusBlogs 30. May, 2012 at 1:16 pm #

Oh I should also add, eating also helps! I find whenever Sairah is busy feeding herself (usually rice but too bad la Chillis all no rice, lol) she can sit quietly for a long time without getting restless. So maybe if he’s done with dinner, you can get him a small dessert (choc muffin, lol!) and let him munch on it while you enjoy yours :)

Thanks Nimi! PP has nice dresses but too bad they’re always so expensive. So it’s nice to receive em as gifts, hehe.

    • TheMissusBlogs 30. May, 2012 at 1:21 pm #

Thanks! LOL I can’t imagine my hubby being all strict on them but he did warn her, no bfs, till she’s 30! HEhehe. Oi oi, her mommy doesn’t even have a LV sunglasses herself so I have nooo idea where she gets it from :p But yes, she does have good taste. I just started teaching her names like LV, Gucci, Prada, lol.

It’s so heart warming to see Sairah enjoys to be around books, flipping thru pages, asking you to read to her.. It’s a good thing to nurture further since she’s keen in something that’s beneficial and not a waste of time.

    • TheMissusBlogs 05. Jun, 2012 at 12:55 pm #

Haha yea, am suprised how she really loves her books. That’s why we make it a point to buy her books as often as we can so she keeps on loving books. Esp loves it when we read to her so now we read her at least one story before bed time :)
