Hello World

Hello World

My baby is a week old today! I am currently under confinement, staying at home everyday (except for when the baby had to go for a checkup and when I had to see my gynea - it was pure bliss to be able to go outside and see the sun shine), eating a combination of Chinese /Indian confinement food prepared by Chef Mom, which btw isn’t all that bad, being pampered by family members who I get to boss around while I lay in bed, just this once, hehe :) Oh and I haven’t had a proper shower in a week!

What I currently lack is SLEEP! This baby is clearly a night owl opting to sleep throughout the day and give everyone at home a hard time late at night. She’s absolutely a doll most times, except when she’s very hungry and demands for milk – that’s when all hell breaks loose and if there ever was an option of returning her, I would – KIDDING.

I’m still getting the hang of being a new mommy to my baby. Her dad (and I just know he’s going to spoil her rotten and give in to her when she’s bigger) is totally smittened by his baby girl and has started calling her his little princess.  Guess I’ve been automatically promoted to Queen now :)

I’ve been blogging so much about her updates while she was in my tummy all along that it feels so sureal that she’s actually finally here! So for those who have been curious about my baby too, here’s a whole week’s worth of photos and development from day 1-7.

Freshly baked from the oven and all ready to melt many hearts:

Daddy’s Little Angel :D

She may be only a week’s old but she has mastered various expressions which makes me believe this baby will make a great actress  someday :)

Mind you, these photos were taken within seconds!

She constantly has various expressions when she sleeps and she’s such a smiley baby (when she’s not screaming her little lungs off that is)!

Sick of her yet? No? Ok good coz there’s more photos of my chubby baby.

I call this her stoned look that pretty much comes after a full meal of mommy’s yummylicious breastmilk.

Ok that’s all for now for the little introduction :) Be nice and say HI back.

The baby’s fast asleep s0 best I get some shut eye too!

She’s Finally Here!!!

16 Sep

Just a quick update to make an extra special announcement on my baby’s arrival – she is finally HERE!!

It was a very brutal journey to get my baby out (more on that later) but like all (new) mothers would say: It was worth every damn second of it!

She was born at 3.4kgs, 47cms in length and she’s extremely beautiful!! She has BOTH our features which makes her even extra special :)

I am currently recovering at the hospital and will most definitely update this bloggie with photos of my beautiful princess once everything is settled down.

Till then, wish me a speedy recovery!

Hey Woman, Are You My Mommy?!

6 Sep

Yup. still.very.much.pregnant.I’m.afraid. Who knows this might be my last pregnancy update before I upgrade to a new status :)

Up until last week, I’ve been having the most unpleasant pregnancy experience – very very and can I add again, very bad back ache, soreness under the ribs, major fatigue, pain almost everywhere – vagina included, swollen feet – it was a very le sigh moment. I told my husband that sometimes it’s unfair when you come to think of it – that in exchange of xxx amount of pleasure, a woman has to endure 9 months of THIS! I suppose this is what makes us great(er) and strong(er) compared to the darker sex. Yay us!

Then about a week ago, for two days I had an episode of VERY intense Braxton Hicks contraction that went through the entire day (and night) at work. I thought I was about to pop!! Waited for other signs of labour but found none.  The uncomfie-ness left me feeling very moody and almost fed up with being pregnant.

I saw my gynea the next day and she confirmed that Baby S is finally in semi-engaged position. Which could probably explain the intense BH as she moved her way down. God I love that word – semi-engaged, only because this is the ONLY time I can ever find a need for it to be used in a sentence! Semi-engaged. How else can one ever put this word in a sentence?

Almost never.

So Baby S is semi-engaged!! And because of that, she has officially slipped into the pelvis area making me feel a WHOLE lot better because now my ribs don’t get sore anymore, the stomach feels a little lighter (and maybe my eyes are just playing tricks – it looks smaller too) and my back doesn’t hurt as much as before (although I still continue to pretend that it does coz I want those free massages). The contractions are still there, and it can get a bit painful sometimes, like a mini earth quake taking place inside your body :( I also find the need to go to the bathroom a whole lot more now.

My feet are still swollen to the point of me not being able to see my ankles! And what the hell is up with reflexology centres that refuse to give you a foot massage just because you’re pregnant??? I literally had to beg the owner and tell him that there is no damn connection of a foot massage inducing labour. It is just a myth and I want my foot massaged badly! And if a foot massage could do that, I would have given birth months ago in various foot massage centres!!!

Aside from my legs looking like a tree stump, I am sometimes out of breath. I can lie down on my bed and still be out of breath. Getting up from the bed is also a chore. And boy have I been catching up on sleep a lot!! I’ve also become best friends with painkiller so I can sleep well at night, without which, leaves me up the whole night in PAIN.

I have no idea what going into labor is like but they say when the time comes, you’ll just know. So I’ll wait and pray that it’s something I’ll be able to endure. As the day inches closer, I am becoming petrified of the idea on how a tiny being  will be popping her way out from you know where, screaming on the top of her little lungs.  But hey if every other mother has endured this and lived to tell the story then so can I *positive thinking*

I have a red suitcase all packed up and ready to go! I dont need the doctor attending to two babies so I’ve already told the husband that he has the option of NOT being in the labor room with me if he doesn’t wants to. Coz to be honest, I rather have my mom in there supporting and cheering me all the way.

Afterall,  for the past 1 month, she has been belting out Diana Ross’s I’m Coming Out (and yes that stupid song is now trapped in my head, it’s annoying!) and I think just having to listen to that song while Baby S pops out, might comfort me and the baby coz afterall, hey, she’s coming out and wants the world to know that!

A Little Something Something Revealed

A Little Something Something Revealed

Since the beginning of my pregnancy, I’ve toyed around with the idea of getting some nice maternity shots done to commemorate our journey as first time (soon to be) parents and as a reminder to Baby S how big mommy had to get just to give birth to her, heh. Ok I kid about the last part.

The idea probably came from the fact that till today we have yet to get our fancy studio wedding photos done because it was always one thing after the other that kept postponing it. Granted, 80% of it I can blame on the fact that our wedding got brought forward much earlier followed by I-need-to-loose-weight moments before I get photographed, followed by the husband not being around for the shoot…….you get the idea. I’m really not sure if our deposit and package is still valid at this studio (it’s been 3 years afterall!) but I’ve told my husband once this baby pops out and IF I get back into shape, we’ll try to get it done then. It’s as good as saying yea when pigs fly…….but we’ll see

Before I digress much, it was one of those days when I did a search for maternity photoshoot in Malaysia on Mr Google when I came across Asther Lau’s blog.

At a glance, I was quite impressed with her work. But to be honest, the one thing that stood out about her is the fact that she’s a female! Which obviously makes it a whole lot easier for someone who is shy like me :D

A few emails bounced back and forth before we decided to engage her and here’s the end results :) I must have booked her at least 5 months in advance. Talk about being overly excited about a maternity shoot eh?

This is only the first batch and I’m already very happy with the outcome. She has at least managed to make me look decent in the photos, lol. It was my first time at a photo shoot session (was nervous as hell as I’m a very conscious person but she managed to put us at ease) and this was probably the husband’s third or fourth since someone is a part time talent and has the experience :D

Definitely one of my fav!

LOVE this shot and will definitely frame it up in the baby’s room :D

I adore this too but it kinda looks like the hubby is grabbing my you know what, haha.

There are a few other photos that I absolutely love but since they’re rather indecent, I shall refrain from putting them up, haha.

Thanks Asther for these wonderful photos. Can’t wait for Batch 2 of photos.

That said, I highly recommend a maternity photoshoot with the hubby before the little one arrives. It creates a great bonding session and it’s definitely something you can look back at years from now and be very happy about a simple thing like this :)

If you love Asther’s work, hop over to her site here and book a slot today!

P.s:  All pretty necklaces and the pillow cover seen in the photos are courtesy of  Elevyn.com These babies are hand-made with love from the marginalized communities within Malaysia. Please help support them by picking up a few of these gorgeous pieces.  Head over to Elevyn.com NOW!

And The Countdown Begins

And The Countdown Begins

It’s finally here.

I came home from work and found the cot all assembled by my dad and mom. Everytime I pass by the cot I tell myself, wow in about 3 weeks from now, a little  tiny baby totally dependant on ME will be having her naps in this very cot.  I constantly ask myself if she’ll take a strong liking towards me, if I’ll be the mom she thought she’d have, if she’ll be an easy baby or one that will keep her mommie up late at night, so many questions which I guess will be answered very soon.

The night the cot was up, I had this dream where I was breast feeding my baby girl. Both boobies had its turn. She looked so peaceful, full of innocence and cute!

In real life, one of my major concern is not being able to produce milk for her – I don’t know why this bugs me to no end but it does.

Anyway, I’ve been staying with my parents for the past 3 weeks because they don’t trust my husband in times of an emergency they say it’s easier for them to handle any pregnant/labour situation. Hence in the past weeks I have been chauffeured around (then again, this aint new!) to work, I get to eat mom’s cooking and more importantly I get to be pampered on a daily basis! The hubby of course comes over from work and stays till 10ish before he goes home. If I’m not too tired I try to go to our apartment for the weekend, otherwise he just stays with me at my parent’s place.

We had a checkup this week and Baby S is already close to 3kgs and we still have 3 weeks to go!! I told the hubby that she definitely has inherited the Punjabi genes somehow :D I suspect it could also be due to the amount of chocolates I’ve been stuffing my face with, heh. Total shopping spree $ as of today: RM2.9k. Woot.

We have also done a pre-admission with the hospital in case I go into labour any time soon so we wouldn’t need to spend a huge chunk of our time filing up forms. Now that’s done and taken care of, all I need to do is wash and pack up some baby clothes to be stored in a luggage together with my things to take to the hospital.

The husband is convinced that I would somehow spend time doing my hair first when I find myself going into labour, just because I was complaining to him about the strict no appliance rule the hospital has imposed. Bah. Guess the first thing the baby will see is a crappy looking mommie – makeup free and deranged hair! Then again, babies don’t have very good eye sight when they’re born isn’t it? Hmm….

Btw, does this place look familiar or what? :D Ahem.

You bet there’s more to come!
