Diary of a Magnum-holic

5 Jan

There are three days in the week that I look forward to  - wed night, saturday night and sunday night because that is when I go online excitedly to look if my numbers are the chosen winners.

Winners of what you might ask, well Magnum 4D of course!! I’ve made it known on this blog that I do buy numbers hoping to strike it big one day (and something tells me I will).

It’s always nerve wrecking as I navigate through the site (I have it added to my favorites for faster access, heh). I’ll then slowly look through the first three prizes followed by special and consolation – always in that order. And then followed by curses when my numbers are no where to be seen or worse still when it’s just one number off!! It’s like being teased, like how a woman cock-teases a man into thinking he’s going to get some but at the end gets none which can be very frustrating yet something you can easily fall for  every single time coz it’s so addictive. That’s how striking it big on Magnum 4D is to me – the cock-tease being the numbers, not me, lol.

If I don’t strike, I tell myself, it’s not time yet, better luck next time and the whole process repeats itself three times a week, every month and have been that way for the past one year :D  It’s always fun trying to come up with numbers that I have a hunch will strike. Which is why I am always on a look out for numbers, esp car numbers or signs from above.

You know how they say it takes a damn Malaysian to slow down at an accident scene attempting to jot down the car number? Guilty as charged! Ok kidding. Though I should start doing that aye, hmmmm…..

To date I’ve only won twice – 2nd prize 1st week of 2010 and consolation prize on my birthday after seeing my car number on another car. Had one too many misses too but that don’t count in this game. Sadly.

I came so damn close on winning the second prize again last Sunday after having a HUGE hunch that my mom’s car number was going to come out in reverse. IT BLOODY DID but sadly I only bought it a week before that but went with different numbers that fateful day and missed out on it. My dad (who’s in charge of helping me buy the numbers as he’s into it too, as you can tell, it’s a father-daughter thing) just sat in front of the PC while staring at my predicted digits feeling frustrated and funny enough,  more upset than me.

I just played it cool coz I take it as being not meant to be, that it’s just some pittance cock-tease before I hit it big(er) soon.

My ultimate 4D goal? To win the million-dollar jackpot, WHAT ELSE! Heck you know what, even jackpot 2 will do which runs into several thousands enough to buy what I want and maybe start something I like :D

But all I know is, the day I strike it big, I am going to get this shit and get everyone I like to hop on board with me and have the time of our lives.  GOD, if you’re listening, pleaseeeeeee, you’ll make 28 people very very happy!

OR if anyone is willing to buy me that voucher just for fun (or because you can) is most welcome to do so too. A thousand thanks in advance. Peace.

Daddy Can Shop

Daddy Can Shop

Sairah’s daddy was away for 5 days in Perth for some urgent matters. Although he offered to pay for my ticket so I could tag along, I had to turn it down coz of the baby. Naturally.

He would text and call me everyday saying he bought clothes for our girl. I would cringe my nose each time wondering what exactly did he buy because let’s face it……..the man’s taste in clothes can be a little off sometimes. We’re talking about someone who gets bored when he goes shopping with me and who needs my nod of approval or opinion on outfit chosen whenever we go out. Let’s not forget this is the same guy who can pick out a shirt in less than 3 minutes when he shops. Tops.

So for the love of our daughter I was hoping he would actually spend more than 3 minutes before deciding which one to buy.

When he got home, his bag was filled with goodies, most chocolately stuff (great, like I can afford any of those now). He got his wife tons of shampoos (one would thing I have three heads or something) and then he pulled out the outfits he bought my baby girl, which totally took me by surprise because it really supersedes all notions I have of his shopping habits.

The clothes were indeed adorable!! And from the looks of it, took more than 3 minutes because they actually match :D

Sairah loves elephants but Daddy forgot that was sooo last week coz now she seems to be into lions :)  It’s still one of my fav outfit, love the bright pink shorts!

At one point I actually had to tell him to stop shopping coz she already has more than enough clothes. Yup, he actually went to more than 1 mall in those 5 days!! Amazing what a dad will do for his baby girl :)

I’m not sure if I should be happy or upset with the fact that the man can actually pick out girly clothes yet chose not to get me any!  Maybe I’ll be a little bit of both :D Either way, LOVE all the clothes he got my baby and can’t aint to dress her in it.

Grace & Andrew’s Reception

Grace & Andrew’s Reception

Twas the day that saw Grace and Andrew get married. The date:  4th December 2010.  It was also the same day my parents got married 30 years ago, hence no doubt I am sure these two will have a very prosperous marriage, just like my folks :)

We attended the reception instead of the church wedding…..

Because when there’s a reception, there’s bound to be some booze, heh. Kidding.

The lovely couple making their grand entrance. She lost SO much weight for the wedding so I really need to get some tips from her pronto.

The host of the night was Jiggee John of Jiggee Events, who is also the best friend of the groom. I’m not sure if it’s cool or weird to have your best friend as your boss.

Loving my fiery red nail polish color! Matches the napkin :D

Before these two jokers got drunk…… I don’t know of anyone who has a Blackberry AND an Iphone at the same time except for Tony. Playa be playing!

Deric even managed to squeeze in a prayer or two…

Obviously the after photo :)

The fun folks of table no 23 :D Ok I’m just making the table number up - I obvious had better things to do than remember numbers.

The customary yam-seng round by the bride and groom. Our table was the loudest!

I’ve got my eyes shut here but this is a really nice group photo of us all! One year does go by in a flash.

Just me and the drunk hubs

Oh sorry, she’s taken. But the other two are available :D

Taken (but sometimes single, ahem), single, taken.

ALL taken!

And here’s our little one all happy to see us after we got home. Which was pretty early since we voluntarily skipped the after-party. Oh how things have changed!

She turned 3 months yesterday. Sigh, what next, 30??

Do They Exist?

Do They Exist?

My grandmother used to tell me that when a newborn comes into this world, their ancestors and guardian angel will hover around them for a certain period of time, watching over the little one.  She said it applies the same for those who are about to pass on too.

I never really believed it until I got to witness it with my own grandmother.  A month before she passed on, she said she could hear devotional hymns playing at night and to calm her down I told her it was just my radio playing. She kept insisting she could see dark figures as well, and even the dog knew something was hovering around for he would jump on her bed and bark at the four corners of the wall.

Shortly after that incident, she got admitted to the hospital and 1.5 months later, she left us.  But a few days before she passed on, she would tell me how she could see my grandfather, uncle, her mom and dad all ‘waiting’ for her at the other end. They would be right in front of her, talking to her and in her last moments, it was very obvious to me that they were indeed there, waiting to take her to the other side.

Remembering what she said about newborns, these days it is quite obvious that my baby is being entertained by someone. Sometimes she looks at a different direction where there’s no one in sight and you can clearly see her interacting and laughing away like someone was there, making her very happy. And sometimes, oddly enough, she would look at the photograph of my grandmom and grandpa hung on the wall and start interacting with her smiles, baby talk and laughs.

Last week I put her down on her rocker when she started to interact with her angel :) That was when I decided to take these photos which are just seconds apart. Bearing in mind that there was NO ONE with me at that point of time and I was obviously in front of the baby (not at the side), I’ll let you be the judge whether or not they exist

Note the serious face, she was probably being lectured for giving grandma and mommy a hard time at night :p

She suddenly burst into fits of giggles which went on for quite a bit

Back to her yes I will behave face :D

A BIG BIG laugh!

And then all of a suddenly she FINALLY realized she was being photographed and gave me the OH SHIT, BUSTEDDDD look!

It’s okay baby, mommy knows that Angels do exist and if you get a chance to talk to yours again (who knows, it could actually be my grandma, your great-grandma), tell her not to worry much coz you’re already in safe hands and it wouldn’t hurt if she’ll help mommy win more money so she can buy you more toys :D

Ok I’m kidding about the last part but I really do wish she’ll tell you to please sleep peacefully at night and NOT at 5.00 a.m!

Dinner Date

Dinner Date

This is our first dinner ‘date’  since giving birth :D

Restaurant of choice: California Pizza Kitchen. Only because I read somewhere they have the BEST Red Velvet Cake in town and I SOOO badly wanted to try it.

Unfortunately, there is no photo of the said best Red Velvet Cake in town because it was SOLD OUT! I think the husband was secretly happy about it because he couldn’t believe a slice cost RM22. Men just don’t know how to appreciate good desserts do they unless it’s the other kind?

It’s also been ages since I stepped into KLCC. Can’t believe the amount of new cut-throat shops that have cropped up since.

Totally in love with my chiffon top. The hubby called it a mummy top but I don’t care!

Must-get-lion-mane-fixed-ASAP! It’s been over a year

Incase you’re wondering why is it so bright, we had our dinner at 6.30pm………for a good reason.

KUMAR was in town for the Kings & Queen of Comedy Asia!!

And I got to watch it with Nicole and Mimi

The poor husband was only there to buy me dinner and drop me off because someone was supposed to be in Australia but then decided not to go. The show was so packed that he couldn’t even get a ticket last minute so he did the next best thing: take a photo like as if  he was attending the show too :)

Which is a real pity coz it was such a HILLARIOUS show! Despite paying RM198, it was worth every single penny. I laughed so much that I was afraid for my C-Sect stitches. Which are fine btw.

Must thank the hubby for sponsoring the tix :) Looking forward to more comedy shows! Preferably sponsored ones :D
