Hoe Kee Chicken Rice

Hoe Kee Chicken Rice

Two missed events over the weekend:

Free invites for two to the Grand Premier of Peter Pan The Musical with a chance to mingle with the cast, and on top of that free entry to the Sunway Lagoon Nite park.

The Blogger SHAGS gathering at the Hill.  SHAGS actually stands for – “Socialize. Harmonize. Actualize. Glamourize. Spiritualize” ,  no funny ideas please!

Such is life of a mommy :D  But it’s all good!

Anyway, the hubby and I made our way to Malacca on Sunday for a day trip. It wasn’t for recreational purposes but rather a little something that the hubby’s working on (and very hard I might add that makes me love him a little more!) for the sake of our baby’s future.

Well despite it not being a leisurely trip that still didn’t stop us from hitting Jonker Street for some yummy lunch on a gloomy Monday!

Google Hoe Kee Chicken Rice and you’ll find tons of reviews on this restaurant. People actually queue up just to dine here! The few times that we were in Jonker Street, we had to shrug off the idea of Hoe Kee because rice balls or no balls, I am most definitely NOT a fan of queuing under the blazing hot sun.

Zoom in close and you’ll realize some people who would!

By luck, we got there before the lunch crowd and managed to get a seat. The menu is pretty straight forward – chicken rice balls / chicken (like duh) / assam fish and cabbage, literally takes you 5 seconds and less to decide.

And now we wait….

We decided to go with almost everything on the menu minus the cabbage

Oh look at all that glorious food

See the fan pointing at me, the aunty was kind enough to move the fan to my direction after seeing me ‘fan’ myself profusely with a tiny card I found in my bag. Talk about good service! And speaking of service,  the food came in under 5 minutes! What’s not to love about this place……well perhaps the long queue on weekends might put one off.

And the food is pretty good as well with the main star being the chicken rice balls itself. Unlike the usual chicken rice restaurant we frequent in JS, these little rice balls are somewhat more flavorful that you could just eat it on its own! The Assam fish was pretty so-so, but still makes a lovely complement with the rice – incase you’re Indian and don’t like things dry :D

One satisfied Indian customer :D

Total bill: RM32 with RM23 alone for the fish!! Definitely worth a few more visits in the future me thinks.

Then we finally made our way to Jonker 88 for some cendol. Again, this place is famous for its long queue and obviously taste. However I couldn’t comprehend the big deal over the cendol. The gula melaka had a burnt smell/taste to it.  I felt it wasn’t sweet enough or at least it’s not what I”m used to.  So bah.

Overall, the weekday trip was pretty fruitful where food was concerned. Now, if only the main purpose of our trip takes off, that would be a double blessing.
For Sairah:
P.s:  Her cute Baby Phat outfit is thanks to Aunty Mimi  and photo thanks to Uncle Jove :)

Romance After Birth

Romance After Birth

Does it exist?

Well only if you make time for it :D

This is my third trip to Porto Romano in TTDI for some fantastic Mediterranean food.  It’s very hard to find a restaurant that maintains the quality and taste of their food every visit, but PR does a fantastico job!

Let’s see……..what to have?

The interior as you can see is small and cozy – perfect for intimate dates I reckon.

The drinks: Hot chocolate for the missus and coffee for the hubby….

Because we he needed it bad from babysitting our baby the night before :D

For starters we had the Brushetta which was lovely and definitely unlike the crap we had at the over-priced cut throat Alexis in Gardens a week ago! Okie they do make good pizzas though.

Followed by the Arabiatta Spaghetti for me. I requested for a slightly mild version thanks to booby duty - 5 out of 5 yummy points!

And here’s the stuffed chicken breast for the hubster – also 5 out of 5 yummy points so you see, you REALLY can’t go wrong with this restaurant!! The bill came up to slightly over RM80 which was worth every cent and of our time.

We even got a 20% discount card for our next visit which the hubby is clinging on with his dear life :D

Must remember to use it in the next 8 days??

Heck, I just realized that I don’t have ANY photos of me and the baby together on this blog. So here’s THREE photos taken after my yummy lunch (yea we had a romantic LUNCH – who says romantic dates are reserved only for dinners?!) at PR.  Probably explains the huge satisfied smile on my face too, heeh.

*Proud Mummy*

If you look close enough, my baby has mad awesome eye lashes at 2 months. This girl will never ever ever need a tube of mascara, unlike her mommy.

I swear Sairah sometimes looks like a pretty boy, just like her dad coz her grandma for some reason LOVES dressing her up in blue. Something tells me her favorite color is going to be none other but blue.

I see a camera pointing at me, hence I must strike a pose!

And here’s a photo of her first stroll in the Graco stroller we got her.  She looks just too cute!

P.s: Read here for our first visit to PR.

Dinner Date

Dinner Date

This is our first dinner ‘date’  since giving birth :D

Restaurant of choice: California Pizza Kitchen. Only because I read somewhere they have the BEST Red Velvet Cake in town and I SOOO badly wanted to try it.

Unfortunately, there is no photo of the said best Red Velvet Cake in town because it was SOLD OUT! I think the husband was secretly happy about it because he couldn’t believe a slice cost RM22. Men just don’t know how to appreciate good desserts do they unless it’s the other kind?

It’s also been ages since I stepped into KLCC. Can’t believe the amount of new cut-throat shops that have cropped up since.

Totally in love with my chiffon top. The hubby called it a mummy top but I don’t care!

Must-get-lion-mane-fixed-ASAP! It’s been over a year

Incase you’re wondering why is it so bright, we had our dinner at 6.30pm………for a good reason.

KUMAR was in town for the Kings & Queen of Comedy Asia!!

And I got to watch it with Nicole and Mimi

The poor husband was only there to buy me dinner and drop me off because someone was supposed to be in Australia but then decided not to go. The show was so packed that he couldn’t even get a ticket last minute so he did the next best thing: take a photo like as if  he was attending the show too :)

Which is a real pity coz it was such a HILLARIOUS show! Despite paying RM198, it was worth every single penny. I laughed so much that I was afraid for my C-Sect stitches. Which are fine btw.

Must thank the hubby for sponsoring the tix :) Looking forward to more comedy shows! Preferably sponsored ones :D

When Action Speaks Louder Than Words

When Action Speaks Louder Than Words

We turned THREE on Tuesday!!

I wasn’t particularly feeling it perhaps due to the anxiety of having this baby and my current whale-ish condition. I was almost convinced that it was the same for the hubby too coz when he emailed me in the morning at work (we always email each other!) , all he said was Happy 3rd Anniversary followed by his usual email which also stated that he was taking me and the bump out for dinner.

Bah.  As it is already I didn’t get a chance to wish him at the stroke of midnight since I stayed with my parents while he went back to the apartment. Neither did we call each other to proclaim how awesome it is that we’ve survived three years of marriage (and look forward to many more) coz we both fell asleep before that.

Then I got an email notification that he had posted on my FB wall.

Happy 3rd Anniversary! “Love is the condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.” – Robert Heinlein

Meh to quoting someone else. Still wasn’t feeling it. Where’s my I love you, you’re the best wifey in the whole wide world and you complete me banter that would make friends and enemies alike puke?

Of course later on that bastard Murphy had to make sure I got stuck in traffic for more than one hour! By the time I got back, I was feeling a little agitated and in pain from my contractions that I almost felt like postponing our dinner to the next day.

Good thing a part of me said NO – because there’s nothing like celebrating that special day on that day itself!!

I had no idea where we were heading but I’m REALLY glad the husband picked this restaurant. Mezze is truly a gem of a restaurant located in Medan Damansara. It is small, warm and cozy which was exactly what I was hoping for to share our third anniversary :)

Just look at that face – this is the chosen man who has succesfully made me stay in love him for the past 5 years :D Of course I’d be lying if I said every single day with him is a joy coz there are days this same face annoys the crap out of me!

And this of course is ze face that’s very easy to love, hehe.  And a face of someone going through heavy contractions! It was particularly VERY bad on that day and so it’s official that I’m dilated by 2cms. Gross info but yea…..:D

Really thought I was going to pop that night but I guess Baby S wants her own special date

The photos I’ve taken does no justice to the interior of this restaurant so you MUST check out their website.

As for the food – it was purely fantastico!!

For starters we had the Jamon Croquetas – 200% yummy!

The hubby settled for the Chargrilled Spatchcock Chicken

While yours truly had the Spaghetti Olio Bacon which was bloody top notch.

We ordered the Panna Cotta for dessert and it was just heavenly. I only wished it would have come in a bigger portion :D Definitely not a dessert to be shared, no matter how much you love em *greedy face*

Now for the good part, ahem. I noticed he had earlier brought out an envelope from the car. As his partner of 5 years, I instinctively knew it was a hand-made card of course :D

It has somewhat become a yearly tradition now.

He spent half a day just making it. Now, you MUST pay close attention to all the photos featured here he tells me.

But of course I was too busy looking at the words that almost sent me into tears!

And so the photos featured in my card is exactly what we’ll be seeing in person come February coz he’s taking me to MALDIVES!!!

Everything has been booked and we can’t wait to set foot on this little piece of heaven to spend some awesome quality time, ahem.

To our third anniversary and to a handsome face I can easily love for many many many more years to come :)

Yup looks like this has also become a yearly tradition photo :)

A Little Something Something

A Little Something Something

We checked into Pacific Regency Hotel on Friday for a little something something, ahem, which will bear its results in 2 weeks time :D

Got the one bedroom suite which was AWESOME!  No wonder this hotel got pretty good reviews on Tripadvisor. It did however feel a bit odd to stay in a hotel when we’re already from KL and more so when this place is just a 2 minutes walking distance to my office!! Eeekss.

Let’s take a tour of  our room shall we?

Here’s the comfy bed where some of the ‘magic’ happened :D

And here’s the TV area where that also took place

Heck even the kitchen area wasn’t spared :D We know how to make use of every single space I tell you!

That’s how long the room is.

Now let’s check out the bathroom where there is a toilet bowl which washes your arse for you!!!

Too bad it’s not trained to make small talk though.

And here’s a useless-too-shallow-of-a-tub that doesn’t do anything, unlike the arse washing toilet bowl!

AND AND AND, a walk-in-closet in the bathroom itself!

Just for the record, while I was getting excited about the closet space, the other half was getting some cheap thrills over the FREE Crabtree & Evelyn products supplied by the hotel. How manly

We were very happy with the room except for the air-con that sucked big time! It was pretty warm but we’re narrowing it down to the size of the room perhaps? Or the tiny stupid vent they call an air con.

After that little something something, we decided to head to Bermuda & Onion for dinner. We were initially supposed to check out a Greek restaurant but someone forgot the name of the place. That someone isn’t me FYI coz forgetting a restaurant name that promises good food is so not me!

All set to EAT.

Damnit, let’s get some food in this big belly!!

My creamy-tomato based pasta – yummy!

The hubby’s very light but tasty chicken flam.

A tired looking us – gee, I wonder why :D

And it’s funny how things have changed so fast.  Pre-knocked-up scenario – we would have sooo walked into a club for a drink or two  in Changkat BB and would have gotten to a happy state by the end of the night. But this time around, we headed back to the hotel for some quiet time and to be honest, were very content with it :)

Happy to settle for some SAYANG time instead

We caught up on tele for the rest of the night, including some cartoons in preparation for the baby.  Ok I’m lying, we’re just childish like that.

He reminds me of my husband sometimes, tee hee.

Ok I shall abruptly end this post with 2 fat photos of me

Feel blessed for it was either this or a semi naked photo of my hubby frolicking around the hotel room. Which my Baby Sis had the displeasure of seeing while scrolling the photos on my camera, lol. She should be her regular self in about a week or two :) Hopefully.

Ok 2 weeks time for ze results of that little something something

BYE!
