You know, it’s been a while since we made any impromptu trips to Malacca. I do miss Malacca for its food, esp Portuguese / Baba Nyonya food! Please go read all my previous foodie experience in Malacca here. I still crave for Amy’s till today!

Being tied down to KL for a simple reason, Simply Mel’s is our favorite go to place when we have such food cravings. They are relatively new in the foodie business but save to say, I don’t know of any place in KL that serves better Portuguese / Baba Nyonya food than them. Actually, do we have other Portuguese restaurants in KL?

This was our third visit to Simply Mel’s!

Their signature sirap bandung. I LOVE sirap bandung. Their version wasn’t too sweet yet very satisfying.

Little one was eyeing the bandung but at the end we gave her plain water coz we’re mean like that

The simple but cozy interior. It’s really like eating at your parent’s place. Really! Since the owner Mel herself cooks these lovely dishes.

Mama Mercy’s Fish Croquette

Chicken Pongteh, which is slowly cooked with potatoes in a shallow and black bean paste gravy. If you can’t stand spicy food, this is a must try.

Mel’s Devil Curry – sinfully spicy! The way we like it. But be warned if you can’t take spicy food. This would literally sting you But it’s soo good.

Mixed vegetable – something I could whip up at home also but the vegs were cooked perfectly, not too hard, not too soft.

Another spicy aubergine dish that went oh so well with rice.  My mom has this habit of attempting to re-create whatever she eats when we’re out so she did challenge herself to re-create this and we can’t wait.

First time visit for my parents – they loved it! Just by what we ordered you can tell we’re Indians

For dessert I went with the sago gula melaka which was divineeeee, it’s a must have on my list if any restaurant has this on their menu.

Mom went for the Bubur Pulut Hitam, which is also my favorite. Obviously the men didn’t do dessert

Overall, food here is obviously above average. It’s like eating good Malacca food in the vicinity of KL. The entire bill came up to approx RM100. I like how Mel, the owner does her obligatory meet and greet with the customers once you’re done with dinner. Restaurants who give out a homely vibe and home-cooked meals always gets my vote.

Mom modelling my new mustard bag that came in the mail on Friday, hehe. I’m actually on a mission to collect bags in every color possible :D, IF that’s a possible thing to achieve.

And believe it or not, I only paid RM50 for this inclusive of shipping. It’s so BIG (bigger than what I expected it to be) and definitely of very good quality. No one believes me when I say it’s onleh RM50. I walked into Coach in Gardens the other day with this bag and no one snubbed me, heh

And also one of my good buys last weekend is this: sorry for the blur pic, my kid is constantly snatching away my makeup!

These are none other than the Revlon Lip Butter which every damn beauty blog are raving about at the moment. Feel free to google the reviews to see the beautiful swatches! I got it in Macaron and Cherry Tart for RM25 each and just ADORE them to bits. It’s by far one of the better drugstore lippie product out there. It goes on bloody smoothly like err butter, is super pigmented and layers well, staying power is not too bad, moisturizing power is off the hook and I can’t help re-apply this just coz I love how it feels on my lip.

Now I feel like collecting every color available, grr. Yea, I’m obsessed with collecting things in every possible color lately, lol. Must-resist-temptation!! Unless anyone wants to sponsor it for meee?!

A few weeks ago, my little one was totting around this recycling bag (probably mimicking her mother)  and it was just too cute!

But I also felt sad for her coz it was a freaking recycling bag so I set out for her father to get her her own FIRST pink bag.

Okay don’t know what’s she’s pointing at!  

Daddy duty calls

I LOVE Toys R Us on a weekday, seriously! Less kids shouting out to their parents (there was this one kid the other day that told the father he just wants to buy something ‘cheap’, haha too adorable!) to buy them toys and less crowd. Period.

This is the creepy stroller for kids I was mentioning in previous post. Only realized I had accidently taken a photo of it when I went home and checked my camera, hehe.

But before she picked out her bag, we shoved a few baby dolls in front of her, waiting to see if she wanted another doll. It was either gonna be the doll or a bag. She immediately pushed it away and refused to hold these dolls. Talk about total rejection!

Then I picked up this pink Barbie bag for her and this happened:

Hahahaha. There is no doubt that she is indeed MY girl right there!!

I solemly pledge together hand in hand with mommy, we will get that sucker daddy to buy us more bags and expand our collection.

Needless to say, this bag goes with us everywhere we go now…but there is no denying I sometimes like to sling it on her coz it’s just a super duper cute look on her Sling bags are awesomeeee

Anyway, we were still trying to figure out why did she reject those dolls and then it hit me that perhaps she’s loyal to her current baby doll

But a few days later I found out I was wrong………tell you later.

For now, who knew a RM45 bag can make a 16 month old very happy.

Best we enjoy these precious moments before she turns into an annoying teenager who demands for a more expensive bag, haha.

Yup, got myself the new Urban Decay Naked Palette 2!!

That’s right, I gots one You got? :D  And it came all the way from the US. Alaska to be precise! Sephora Malaysia recently launched the palette too, but I believe it was snapped out almost immediately. Saw a photo of ladies LINING up just to get their hands on this. Kudos to them for I can never do that.  Retail patience – they have it and I have none. But it does go to show that this baby sells like hot cake! And it’s for a reason.

I paid a little bit more than what you could get in Sephora, but I say RM20 more to avoid lining up, fighting with these ladies just to get my paws on it, and the need to want it asap is well worth it.

I believe a lot of reviews have been done with this already so I’m not gonna attempt to review this but merely give me two cents. If you could even call it that.

I’ll just say I’m a very happy camper with this neutral eye palette. It has the shimmery (and boy is it really shimmery) and matte colors to play with and you can use it for day or night. Helps that it comes with a nice black shade too for a nice smokey eye look. The color payoff is amazing, just a swipe of it and the color shows up, tanned skin or not.

I like how each color is labeled at the bottom, because god knows I’ve forgotten colors that I’ve put on my lid sometimes just because I’m old and quite retarded. The packaging is sooo much better than the first one (not that I own the first palette, only seen it in Sephora), it comes in tin form , which means I can travel with it.  I have one BIG 88 Coastal eyeshadow palette before this so lugging it around was out of the question.  Now I can have pretty eyes when I travel, wheee! This baby also comes with a dual ended brush although the quality on it its pretty meh but will suffice on short trips. The itty bitty sized gloss that comes with it serves no purposes as the color payoff sucks, actually there’s no color to it making it neutral, but does come in handy when all you want is some shine to your lips.

My little girl just went oooooooooo when she saw this palette. That’s the same expression her mom did too. Was just contemplating NOT using it so I can sit and stare at it but what do you know, I’m weak, woke up excitedly for work the next day just so I could use this palette. Shoved the palette in front of the hubby’s face, unfortunately he had NO expression whatsoever  to share my happiness and joy. Hmpf! Maybe coz he had to pay for this.

But yea, now I have a good reason waking up a little early in the morning

Retail price: USD50. I paid USD65. I believe it’s selling for RM187 in Sephora.

Know what would be awesome though? If they can come up with Naked 3 and have all matte colors for us girls who prefer matte colors more! And then follow with Naked 4, with just purely shimmery shades, heh. Or launch both at the same time! Whatever. I should be on their marketing team

Year end oh year end how I love you THAT much. It always seems to evoke a BRIGHT HAPPY feeling inside me. Helps that there is less traffic hence I can stay sane

And now the REAL reason for this blog post To show off my hauls. Year end also means SELF PAMPERING!!!! Only because these companies come up with value for money gift sets. Cunning bastards!

So in love with my Tarte Lipsurgence collection.  Don’t bother clicking that link coz it’s already sold out :D  I like how it comes in crayon like form so I can literally color my lips. The color and texture on this is amazingggg, keeps the lips super moist and I LOVE the mint flavor. 5 lippies at USD29 when it’s usually USD24 EACH, this bitch is a super savy shopper yo

 My gorgeous gorgeous babies. I’ve spent hours just looking and touching em like a pervert. True story.

And here’s my Sleek Mineral Eyeshadow Palette from UK. Super heart this one. Colors are neutral or rathe taupe based and perfect for work, it glides on like a god damn charm I tell you.

But wait, there’s more, I”ve got a few more stuff coming in January but I think the highlight of it would be a little something that would want to get me and you NAKED, ahem Do you know hard these babies are to get hold of?

It’s been a while since I’ve listed down my current obsession Oh yes I still go crazy about certain things, at different phases.

A few months ago, it was RINGS! And I’ve collected quite a bit since then

Now, I’ve moved on to red lippies! Or rather lipstick/glosses in general. After hitting the BIG 30, I just feel that red lippies are the perfect color for an ahem, matured 30 year old woman. Don’t ask me why, it’s probably how they make you look classy or more matured.

I could be kidding myself but what do you think? Yay or Nay? Or I don’t really care?!

Btw, am totally loving the NYX lip cream, the staying power is off the hook! You can purchase them here. And I’m sure you can tell by now how I intend to collect ALL the colors

I’ve also purchased this baby from Tarte and can’t wait for it to arrive. A lil year-end gift to myself if you must.  Year-end is absolutely the BEST time to pick up beauty items coz they are always packaged best for your wallet coz of Christmas.

In terms of food wise, it’s weird that I have a STRONG craving for yoghurt. Not just any yoghurt, but Moo Cow Frozen Yoghurt!! Just for the record – am not pregnant or anything (GOD I hope not!), just being a little fattie

Strange. Partly because I’ve never been one to enjoy yoghurt or anything remotely sour-ish (sweet tooth remember?).  I think about Moo Cow day and night I shit you not. I find ways into tricking the husband to pop by Gardens or Plaza Damas. I find myself wanting to open up a franchise anywhere so I can have FULL UNLIMITED access to these buggers.

This is my current favorite – Original flavor topped with chocolate chips. I used to like their root-beer flavor but that was seasonal. I”m nuts about their Wheatgrass flavor too, which is their flavor of the month.

You can tell I go there often…..

Oh I officially have four stamps now, mooooo might have collected a few more if I didn’t forget my loyalty card sometimes.
