Al Diafah @ Jalan Radin Anum, Sri Petaling

9 Jul

We can add another Middle Eastern Restaurant to our list. Yay – mission almost accomplished! *almost*

The interiors of Al-Diafah

Ok, we were not really expecting this place to be nice hence the tattered-cannot-donate-need-to-cut-off-instead T-Shirt hubby wore. But lucky us, 10 minutes later a couple walked in equally dressed down.

Glanced through the menu and found the prices steeper than most Arab restaurants -quite expected given its style mylo interior settings.

Decided on the Falafel (or lalafil as pronounced by the other couple, hehe) as appetizer. Somewhere out there, an Arab is snickering that his crappy frozen lalafels have landed into Al-Diafah’s kitchen to be served to its unsuspecting customers.

Seeing that the rice dishes were around RM35 each, we decided to go with the Shish Tawook Sandwich while hubby got the lamb sandwich. Both RM15 each. I know – bloody cheapskates.

But wait, it was yummy! Found huge spicy chunks of chicken meat smothered with vegetables all wrapped up in the soft tasty bread. Yum Yum. Makes me slobber just thinking of it.

Hubby: Ok what to do with the frozen falafel?

Me: The stray dogs near my place can have a gourmet meal tonight.

Doggie bag please….

The bill after shitty taxes and service charge came up to a little under RM50.

Having spotted my favorite Old Town Kopitiam before dinner around the corner, I dragged hubby in for a quick drink of Xi Mut Milk Tea. Absolutely yummy!

Ok I’m sure there are more Middle Eastern restaurants to explore but I can’t find it on Google. If anyone can thrown in a few names and give the address, I’d very much appreciate it. Heck I’ll even take you with me! Deal?

Special Homecoming

7 Jul

2 homecoming of two special people over the weekend.

That also meant 2 trips to KLIA.

Friday Night: Arrival of Baby Sis from Bristol, UK

The bro-in-law patiently awaits…

to help push the trolley, awww

After 14 hours of traveling

She’s baaccckkk….

We’re reunited again. Yay. Makes me feel like singing Peaches and Herb’s Reunited again. It’s not cheesy ok!

Guess who could still recognize her

Yes, she got her nose pierced there. I don’t think dad was too pleased.

Saturday 9 am – Arrival of Hubby’s Grandma from India and an ungodly time for me to be up on a weekend!

Awww look what she got me

Thanks patti. I hope the ‘it’s a boy’ collar around the bear isn’t a major hint for a great grandson!

Headed to good ole Ipoh for the weekend to drop his grandma back.

Boys will be boys don’t you think?

Both his grannies. Makes me miss mine SO much.

Was a tiring weekend travelling but nevertheless I’m so happy my baby sister is back :) It’s back to being one big happy family (I’m still the favorite ok) and back to safe guarding my perfumes.

Next homecoming: Brother in Law in August!

Shanghai Love

3 Jul

Some months ago I listened to a local chinese colleague rant about his recent trip to Shanghai. It was an irony of sorts considering how I on the other hand was completely blown away with what Shanghai had to offer.

Shanghai in the autumn as strange as it might sound reminded me of a mini version of Las Vegas with its bright neon lights, the clear blue skys and crisp clean autumn air. I remember us walking down the road many times at night in the cold in awe of The Bund and it’s surrounding.

Baby Sis and my Childhood Friend in white

Daddy’s Girl in Shanghai

I miss you Shanghai. It’s been 4 years already. I will be back for more.

And to the old chinese man who got up from his seat in a packed train to offer his seat to my mom – THANK YOU!

Bye Bye Bristol, Hello Home

2 Jul

My one and only Baby Sis arrives back to KL from Bristol on Friday evening.

Weeeeee….

Off she went as a brat but now – she can officially cook and even wash toilets :) Living on your own and far away from your family does change you then.

8 months flew by quickly. I remember how she left for UK a day after hubby and I left to our honeymoon. I didn’t get a chance to say a proper bye at the airport. So much crying and drama, so I heard – like as though she was leaving us for good. And now, in a blink of an eye, she’s finally coming back.

Baby Sis and I have always had a love-hate relationship, I loved her when she listened and obeyed me and I hated her for stealing my perfume, makeup, telling on me and being a pain sometimes.

But I soon discovered that the distance between us has made our sisterly bond stronger, closer and more loving than ever before. E-mails and text messages saying how much we love and miss each other was NEVER part of our routine but in the past 8 months, it seemed like I needed a dose of those simple yet least used words to fill the loneliness of not having my baby sis, the once upon a royal pain around.

She was always the live wire of any of our outing. She chats too much. Soon the house will be filled again with her endless banters.

Baby Sis – can’t wait for you to come home and yes we’re throwing you a sweet homecoming party sometime next week once you’ve settled down.

I hope your dog remembers you! And more importantly I better move away my clothes that are currently seeking refuge on your bed!

See you Friday.

The Reunion

Finally met up with the soon-to-be bride Bestie, Mr & Mrs Wiberg who managed to squeeze in some time for her friends (which she hasn’t seen in months I might add) to
pass us the wedding card :)

This is what you do when your typical Malaysian and Singaporean friends are 45 minutes late! Hmpf

Dinner at Al-Rawsha. AVOID on weekends – awful awful service.

Give us your best smile Dheeraj, pose boy pose…wait, imagine you’re at a casting call ;)

How do I look babeeeh? Am I too sexy for my pin stripe shirt?

We’re all so excited,
