Sairah Meets Cousin Rhys

8 Mar

Meet cutie pie Rhys who is down on a month long holiday. His mommy is the husband’s cousin and they live in Australia. Kudos to his mom for braving an 8 hour flight alone with a 5 month old baby! I know I wouldn’t survive, heh.

Sairah got to officially meet him on Saturday. Baby Rhys is probably the second baby she has met to date granted there are not that many babies in the family.

Her first encounter was with one year old Baby Vera, about 2 months ago.  She looks a little afraid in the photo. You would too if there was someone bigger holding onto your hands :)

There’s just something calm about seeing babies interact with each other. It is pure, real, not anywhere close to being pretencious and simply a joy to look at! Makes you wonder why adults can’t be this way eh? :D

Both babies looking at the video camera. We HAVE to get one soon!!

Yup, still looking at the video camera. Start interacting will ya?!

There now, much better.

Makes you wonder what’s going on in their little heads isn’t it?

All I see is my baby’s cheeks, lol

Rhys was being a typical boy by being hyper and trying to get close to Sairah, while Sairah was totally lady like sitting quietly, occasionally giving a ‘you’re such a boy’ look. LOL. The aunt asked if she’s usually this quiet, which we were both quick to retort with a huge NO. I guess she was curious about Rhys because she kept giving us the curious what’s going on look whenever one of us would carry him. Plus I think my baby has mastered the art of behaving well in public and in front of new people, lol.

After a while Sairah got bored and started looking for her mommy and daddy.

Gee where are my old folks?!

There you are motherrrrr!! Put the camera down and pick me up woman!

Both babies saying their goodbyes for now.

Awww see how she’s got her hands on his?? Too cute!!

After saying our goodbyes, we then headed to this quaint little cafe that I recently discovered. It’s called Upstairs Cafe (just opposite SJMC), and I”m kicking myself for not discovering it earlier during my pregnancy :p

It’s a small self-service comfy cafe, serving pastas and sandwiches. The menu is limited but it’s cheap at only RM9 per dish. However the drinks are equally priced at RM9 so I guess it kinda makes up for it. I’ve sort of taught Sairah to sit on my lap quietly while we eat away so taking her to restaurants thesedays have been easy breezy. And best of all, I am able to finish up a meal and she knows better to allow me to :)

That’s the owner/chef/baker behind us. He’s kinda cute, ahem (lots of blogs have already mentioned this but no this is not the no 1 reason to visit his cafe!). I have his number too. Well for ordering cakes that is :p

She adores posing for the camera. I wonder  from which parent she takes this great skill after :D

RM9 pastas :) Good for the pocket and YUMMY too!

Ok I dont know if I really want to do this but heck, this is the BEST brownie I’ve had to date!! You HAVE to try it. I’ve introduced this to my sis and cousins and well, they say it’s the BEST brownie they’ve had too so that really counts for something considering how they are such chocolate monsters. I would pay good money to get my hands on this recipe. It’s perfect!! The price - only RM5.

I’m also in LOVE with their Red Velvet Cupcakes. Possible the BEST cuppies in Subang area. It’s soft, moist and the owner is oh so generous with the toppings . Best of all, it’s only RM4.50 a piece.  There were only last 4 of these babies left and I bought them alllll.

I would go again and again for the cakes.  It’s that delicious that it makes you want more. If the I-dont-like-desserts-that-much-husband can crave for the brownies, that speaks volume!

Upstairs Cafe is located Jalan SS12/1B, 47500 Subang Jaya. It’s above Bawang Merah, which is owned by his dad I believe. Do take note that they open from 3pm-11pm. Except for Sundays. Now GO and thank me later for revealing such an awesome place!

Guess that Sairah is curious of seeing another baby around. Would she cry when you carry another baby?

Wished that I can sink my teeth into the brownies and the cupcakes, it’s so much temptation, but then again…how evil is this! :p

Hi Jessie, no she didn’t cry but if strangers carry her and if she’s uncomfie she’ll cry for a bit before settling down.

LOL well if you ever do come to KL, you’ll know where to search for the best brownies ever!

Sairah is, as always, every so adorable!! She should be turning 6 months soon right? Exciting — time to start rice cereal! We’ll be waiting for the photos of her expression when she first tastes it :-)

Thanks babe. Hope your cutie pie is doing good! She turns 6 months on Monday but I wanna be the first one to feed her so I’ll start her off with some rice cereal for dinner this Sunday. Will definitely photograph it, hehe :)

awww baby to baby interaction. I notice they like seeing another ‘little human’ and get curious. In Sanju’s case, he tries to touch and smiles to get close… yes the little boy is turning flirtatious already

    • TheMissusBlogs 10. Mar, 2011 at 11:59 am #

Haha I know right? It’s just too cute. Oh my, flirtatious indeed! We should totally set up a play date in the future for our babies to play!

      • qarezma 10. Mar, 2011 at 2:35 pm #

sure should do, but let me warn u, Sanju is quite the playboy, dont blame him later if Sairah falls for him

ehh starting solids… the new exciting things as parents.. do write abt it later!

        • TheMissusBlogs 10. Mar, 2011 at 2:39 pm #

LOL I’m sure they’ll make a very cute couple, hehehe.

I KNOW, majorly excited and can’t wait. Will definitely blog about it. Will probably start her off with some rice cereal. If you know a good brand, do share ya! Thanks.

Heinz. My sister’s daughter’s doc recommended Heinz. She said Nestum has alot of added sugar and therefore baby gets used to sweet taste from young. Heinz rice cereal is very bland (poor baby, hehehe!). And of course u must be the first to feed the semi solids. To tell u the truth, i cant wait to start my baby on semi solids. Dunno why, maybe cos i saw my niece go thru the whole thing and know that its a big milestone. My baby’s 4+ months now so i have 1.5 months more to go! :-)

          • TheMissusBlogs 10. Mar, 2011 at 4:09 pm #

Heinz eh? I will check it out at the supermarket this weekend. Definitely not introducing her to something sweet, she’s a little fattie as it is, lol. And she’s showing strong interest where food is concerned. My friend told me Gerber is good but can’t get it here and someone online is selling Earth’s Best which is a popular organic brand in the US. Decisions decisions.

I can imagine you must be getting excited too, dont worry, 1.5 months will go by quick and he’ll be a big boy before you know it. You owe us a play date in the future too!

          • qarezma 11. Mar, 2011 at 5:51 pm #

I wrote about it last time

i also would strongly recommend heinz rice cereal, dont get her all sugar-ed up with nestum brand. And i think she looks healthy alright, its good to hv the body build up, cos once they fall sick later on, they will lose easily too.

Other alternatives are gerbers, raffertys, organix, holle, organic farm, WHY NOT.. there are a few more but just not in my head right now.

You can find these brands at stores like Jaya grocer or cold storage… more on the up-market side.. and they come in limited stocks that soon baby-food shopping can become an exciting chase!

OMG, where can I find this Heinz rice cereal? I’ve been to Jusco Pyramid, Cold Storage in Bangsar Shopping Complex, Mid Valley, Babyland and couldn’t find anything! It’s really beoming a hunt to find Heinz Rice Cereal at the moment, lol. They only have Heinz Bfast which I bought for her. Managed to grab 2 boxes of Gerber in Empire Mall but I’m still going to hunt for the rice cereal when I can.

  4. Dhash 11. Mar, 2011 at 9:26 am #

Heinz is relatively easy to find, comes in a box and costs less than RM10 per box. Check it out and see… Ya i would think Gerber would be hard to find here…. Hey Sairah is no fattie lah, she’s so so cute….. U know they say the best time to start semi solids is when they baby shows interest in our food… So there u go! :-)
And yes, playdate…. U know its so tiring on weekdays dropping my baby at my MIL’s house then fetching him back after work, that i’ve become a lazy bum — too tired to go out on weekends! We just stay in :-) But yes we’ll have the playdate one day soon, Nikhil can be the 3rd baby Sairah meets, hahaha!

    • TheMissusBlogs 11. Mar, 2011 at 11:06 am #

I’m going baby-grocery shopping tomorrow to buy her food, wish me luck! Her pead said she’s above average in weight so that makes her a little fattie, hehe. She was already looking at our food at 4 months + so you can imagine how she wants her food badly. Hubby was saying we should never intro her to chocolates and fast-food, lol.

Tell me about it! I miss sleeping in and we’ve not gone for a movie in ages! Always too tired though I’m impressed at my body’s ability to continue functioning, lol. When Nikhil is a bit bigger we’ll definitely arrange for one. Yay, Sairah’s friends list is growing alright :) More boy friends than girls too, hehe. You have a great weekend!

Same owner as Bawang Merah. Belongs to a very lovely Malay lady; a close family friend. I haven’t tried it yet but according to my aunt who spends a lot of time feasting there, it’s really good. BUT……I did have their food tasting leftovers and they were GOOD !

    • TheMissusBlogs 14. Mar, 2011 at 11:42 am #

Hi Val, please tell them they’re doing an excellent job :) The husband and I were craving for the brownies on saturday and actually drove alll the way from KL-Subang to get it. And I made him call them up to RESERVE all brownies and red velvet cupcakes for us, lol. We’ll definitely be dining in Bawang Merah soon. My aunt was raving about their malay kuihs :)

  6. Dhash 14. Mar, 2011 at 3:22 pm #

Oh dont tell me they’re out again! My sis was hunting for their muesli breakfast cereal for my niece sometime last year, and there were just none! We searched everywhere for it actually (Jusco, Giant, Tesco, Cold Storage, Village Grocer)- none to be found, and then suddenly there was just plenty around. I think they brought in stock late, and probably same thing happened now… Hmmm looks like i gotta start cereal hunting for my son EARLY :-)

  7. Dhash 15. Mar, 2011 at 2:33 pm #

Went to Sogo to check it out (since its next door hehe) and no baby rice cereal there, only banana breakfast cereal. Looks like they’re out of stock again!

    • TheMissusBlogs 15. Mar, 2011 at 3:27 pm #

Damn that banana breakfast cereal, that’s the only ones I keep seeing in all the supermarkets I’ve been to. Guess they’re really out!! I saw this Indonesian site where she’s ready to ship in two boxes but the hubby said he doesn’t like the idea of shipping baby food. And yes you should start shopping for it early unlike us, got it a day before, was a total rush. Shall update you if I am able to locate this Heinz rice cereal. Seems like it’s much easier to get in touch with the President than find Heinz Rice Cereal, hehe, sheesh.
