Bangkok 2011
6 Jun
21st May 2011 – 24 May 2011
It’s funny how things work out sometimes. I mentioned in a post that I wanted to go to Bangkok, badly, and somehow it ended up that way (maybe, just maybe my blog has some magical powers converting wishes into reality, heeh). Ok I want a million dollars!!
Though we were all set to take the little one with us, my parents thought exposing her to the heat and dust of Bangkok was not a good idea so we had to be away from her for a short while.
We checked into Courtyard Marriott (the same hotel we stayed in Phuket) coz the hubby has a gold member
We were promptly upgraded to a business room upon arrival, S W E E T!
No complains about the hotel, breakfast was pretty good and service was excellent :) They even provide a tuk tuk to send you to the nearest MRT station.
The bed was SOOO comfy that it was really hard waking up early.
Nice touch eh :D
Here are some random photos - I’ve put them up in sequence
Cutest lil pink sofa. But more importantly…..
These are the most awesome cupcakes@ Love Bake Shop in Central World. The amount of dessert cafes and japanese restaurants have most definitely cropped up over the years. It’s amazing how Thais now enjoy hundreds of restaurants. You literally have a HARD time deciding where to eat.
Crazy awesome stuff even the hubby approved. Though it’s a little pricey at RM8 a pop. But worth every butt baht.
Nothing like a nice first Thai meal to start the journey with. Sometimes this husband tends to think he’s the one with Thai blood. He insisted we eat Thai every other meal, he would ‘try’ to converse in Thai, breathe bangkok air like a Thai, insist that we should live here one day……..then I ruined his little dreams and hopes by saying……..I think you’ll blend in better in your own hometown in Chennai, LOL. I’m bitchy that way.
As always, a trip to Thailand is NOT complete without going to Naraya. Shopped in the Naraya outlet in Central World, Siam Discovery and Patpong *shifty eyes*
Affordable bags and more bags but only one is mine, believe it or not!!
Platinum Mall baby – 6 floors of shopping goodness selling clothes from RM10-30. But again, believe it or not, I didn’t even buy much. Just two tops for myself. Have I over-shopped in life already? Well no, more like the sizes here caters to lil elfs, the skinny short ones
I did get some awesome hair accesories and rings though
Dresses and bibs for Sairah baby
A silk elephant tissue box cover for the baby, and two CUTE signage for baby’s room and the husband’s bathroom.
And people say I”m the vain one??!
At the MRT station, all set to go to Chatucak. Again, we spent only ONE hour walking around and only ended up buying Sairah’s tissue box cover.
I LOVE their pink taxis – public transportation in Thailand is such a breeze. And cheap.
Because I’m rude and greedy I’m going to dig into your thai green curry noodles. The foodcourt in Platinum is massive with lots of local choices. A highly recommended place for Thai food.
Tea time @ Black Canyon Coffee. I remember this place being cheaper!! Things have certainly gone up in Thailand. And that includes massages too
Nothing like a Samurai Pork Burger @ MCDs.
And of course, no trip is complete without a trip to the infamous Pat Pong area
Obviously not much of a morning person. Now put the damn camera away.
Right before Madame Tussauds
More thai food! The foodcourt in Siam Paragon is definitely insanely largeee!!! No doubt a great choice if you love food.
The wifey wants to buy some bras – let’s see if I have some cash.
We found a large Japanese store and the hubby got me this amazing perfume. I remember smelling this one on a Jap girl (okay I’m just assuming she is) and can’t believe I found it here. Any ideas where can I get it locally?
Tea break @ Coffee World while using their free wifi to check on me blog. None of you commented on my cooking post, hmpfff!
And like seriously, I shit you not the highlight of my trip – shopping at a supermarket!!! We spent more than two hours here just browsing through their products. That’s when the husband said ‘they have so much choices here, I wanna live here’ right so a supermarket has that much power of us. We’re weird that way
And now like a good wife I have to go home and cook a nice Thai dinner for the husband.
Holy smokes this chocolate cream puff is so awesome that I must look like I’m stoned by it.
And this Jap dessert is doubly awesome too.
Naturally I must show off my hauls from the supermarket, hehe. If you know of anyone else who would bring back packets of coconut milk and condensed milk, please, do let me know.
And I really am going on a thai food rampage. The hubby’s Uncle and Aunt came from the States last weekend and I cooked them Thai. I have another guest coming this weekend and yup you guessed, it, Thai food!
The main cause of my 24kg bag.
Boots was having a May Day sale so…….they cost not more than RM10 each. You would have stocked up as well, don’t bluff!
And now we go home after making the one quarter Thai wife happy.
The hubby might be going back there again for work soon and I”m jealous!!
P.s: Totally unrelated – my favorite Naerunchara Spa is on Groupon Malaysia’s latest deal. They featured my blog review on their site, hehe. To buy the deal, click here , definitely worth it!

Omg me so jealous!!!Its been so long I didnt go to bangkok!Ever since moved to Paris so jarang la huhuhu!!Before that used to go at least once every year
wow they’ve opened new shopping mall huh called Platinum?During my last trip in 2006, there were Siam Paragon and other usual ones like MBK.Daym How I missed shopping in Boots for their soapy and scrubby stuffs heeeh!Another Naraya fan here!
Did u go to this one place where they’ll sell wholesale stuffs? I bopught some cotton materials, so good babe! Damn I can’t recall the place’s name but there’s only one place in BKK where they do all those stuff. We should go together to Bangkok in future babe
miss miss miss bangkok ler
OOO Bangkok fan in the house! But hello you’re in Paris ler, the city of fashion
Yup this Platinum came about a few years ago I believe. My god you would SOOO go nuts here. Very cheap, it’s better than Chatucak and MBK, trust me! Can shop in comfort coz got aircon, lol. But my nasib la cannot find clothes that fit me coz fat already. LOL I went wild in Boots la – they were having a major sale. And Naraya – wow they’ve come up with MORE bag designs!
Wholesale stuff? Err don’t recall but I was actually looking for cotton materials but couldn’t find any
They’ve closed down Suan Lam market btw. Yes definitely can go in the future together :)Perhaps next year or so?
Oh ya and Platinum mall is actually a wholesale outlet. You need to buy 3 items to enjoy bigger discounts. Can buy one piece also, the most you end up paying is RM5 more, which is not too bad. I think the one you went to was Pratunam right? Got 3-4 floors or so. Apparently all the girls only go to Platinum to shop, haha.
OMG I so misssssssssssssss Bangkok!
I love Central World so much that I would go there every weekend the last time I stayed there.
And yes, ladies MUST visit platinum. It’s a must.
And guys, Patpong.. single guys that is.
And ohh ohh fooddddddddddddddddd… I miss the aunty that sells thai fish cake, mixed rice located at chaeng wattana road………
Must go back there soon!
Wah looks like Bangkok is everyone’s fav destination
I was in Central World 3 years ago when they first opened, and it’s soo different now. SO many restaurants that it gave us a headache picking one out!!
LOL we were in Patpong 3 nights in a row
I found this place you might be interested in
Email ya shortly!
We should totally form like a Bangkok-loving gang and all go there together, lol.
Girl, if you think hauling coconut milk is strange, I’ll have you know that I lugged fresh petai, serai and cili padi from the Thai store in Sweden to Italy :P I kept the loot in the hotel’s minibar before leaving
LOL but but but that’s still acceptable since those items are hard to find in Italy. As for coconut milk, we have it at every corner here – boxed and fresh ones, hehe. Anyway, I”m convinced their version of coconut milk is much better!
